Excited for my haircut today & a question

I bought a Groupon for a wash & cut a while ago and am cutting it close with using it before it expires.  I'm curious to see if they treat Groupon customers differently from "regular" customers.

Now for the question part: do you usually have a specific idea of what you want when you go into salon and give the stylist instructions?  Or are you more about letting the pro figure out what will work on you?  Something in between?

Since my hair is thick and naturally curly, I know having it layered all the way around works best. So yes, I have a specific idea of what I want it to look like. I think knowing what you want and explaining that to the hair stylist is best, because if not, they will do anything they want and you may not like it in the end.

Something in between. I usually have a vague idea of what I want, and would like the stylist's opinion. I'd also be opened to his/her suggestions. However, I still need to find a good (but not too expensive) hair stylist in my area who would know what's good on me.

I'm married to my hair so I generally get the same thing each time. I did get bangs earlier this year, and I had a pic of what I wanted. Then I bite my nails the remainder of the appointment
