Poll: pickled food

SFGate had an article about pickled food in the Bay Area today. That made me wonder:

do you like pickled food in general? Do you have any favorite one(s)? Do you make any at home?

Re: Poll: pickled food

  • I like some pickled food but not all.  I really like Pickles on sandwiches and burgers.  I pickle my own beets.  I like the pickled condiments at my favorite Mediterranean restaurant (dish dash in sunnyvale)
  • Just pickled ginger!

  • I like pickled ginger (which I started to do at home) and sometimes, sauerkraut.

I also like napa cabbage and radish kimchi, but I believe they're fermented rather than pickled.

  • I LOVE pickles themselves. I recently discovered spicy hot pickles, which have a nice kick. I love pickles on sandwiches, burgers and even hot dogs. Since I prefer dill, I prefer pickles to relish. But I'll eat that if it's the only option. I like sour stuff. I like malt vinegar on fries. My grandma made this soup called borscht (cabbage stew basically) and we always added apple cider vinegar to it. I put mustard on lots of stuff and sandwiches/burgers/hot dogs aren't complete without both mustard and pickles. I also like pickled peppers, like wax peppers and pepperoncinis. I put those in sandwiches, too.
  • I like Asian pickled greens!  Pork and pickled greens noodle soup is one of my favorite comfort foods.  I think I've had it twice in the last week :)  It may not be a good thing that we found a place nearby that does a pretty great takeout version of it.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

We usually steam meat with pickled mustard. I must try the soup!
