WalMart released their black friday ad this morning. I'm so tempted. I need to watch the videos of trampling to get over it. Oh, and it's not really Friday- it starts at 10 PM Thanksgiving day for some, electronics aren't until Midnight. Crazy!
Anyone doing the early morning Black Friday/late night Tday?

Re: Black Friday
I think so, just because we are gonna get MIL and FIL a new tv for Xmas, which is way over our normal budget. All FIL can do is sit in front of the tv and his set is old and crappy, so we figured it will improve his quality of life for whatever length of time he has left. And MIL will stop complaining about how she can't see the TV from her recliner...
Thanks for posting!
DH and I went to our Super WalMart last year Thanksgiving night (like 7-8 pm, for food, not for Black Friday deals) and people were already in store lining up (store is 24 hr). It was ridiculous. Camping chairs in the middle of food aisles because they stuck some electronics near there.
The thought to going to Walmart any day, let alone Black Friday, makes me want to scream* but....if my nephew asks for a video game that's on-sale I may have to go check it out.
* No offense to Walmart lovers, I just haaaate it and am always forced to go at MILs.
Ditto.
Same! We usually go out on Black Friday, but not to Walmart. That place gets seriously nuts, especially on Black Friday.
My mom, sister, and I go to Target on Black Friday around 8 am every year. The madness has cleared out, most of the good deals we want are still there, etc. DH does the dirty work with my dad and brother at Best Buy or wherever they plan to go. So, I'm not against Black Friday at all.
What I AM against is the stores fvcking with Thanksgiving. It's bad enough Christmas is overtaking Thanksgiving, but now Black Friday is starting on Thanksgiving evening? I just can't tolerate it. Let people eat, drink and be merry without having consumerism shoved down our throats for ONE day. /vent.
I feel you on this. I just realized that I work across the street from a Walmart but I drive out my way go to Target.
I may do Target or best Buy but not for any of those "door buster" deals. I think most of those are scams and they only have like 6 in store. I doubt I will be in line anywhere at midnight, but I'll probably hit the store around mid morning once some of the craziness has subsided.
Yeah, I tried Black Friday once at Wal Mart. Dad and I woke up to get there at 5 am (ahh, the good old days) to get me a laptop for college. There was already a line for the laptops 45 people deep, and a friend of mine worked there. She walked by and I asked if it was really the laptop line and she said, "Yeah, but there's only 15 of them." Yeah, no thanks. I don't dig that kind of thing.
Like Star, I'm also frustrated that they're messing with a holiday like that. Not only for the consumerism issue, but they're also taking their employees away from their families on one of the few days a year the store is closed. I will not support that.
So true!!
Ditto this! Its terrible, most retail employees only get Thanksgiving and Christmas Day off since most stores are closed those days. I feel so badly for those folks in the retail industry, and I do not plan to shop on Thanksgiving Day at all. We may venture out on Black Friday but nothing crazy for us this year!
