Black Friday!!!

I recieved the Old Navy Black Friday ad this morning. All I can say is I AM going at midnight for the deals. I can get about 90% of my Christmas shopping done in 1 place!

Who else goes Black Friday shopping and what stores do you go to?

Re: Black Friday!!!

  • Since we are actually going to be home this year we might do it, but it has to be worth it. My mom, my sister and I did it last year at TRU and we had a specific thing we wanted. When we got in there it was out so it felt like a total waste of time for me. DH really wants a kintec for his Xbox so I'm hoping Best Buy or Target has a great sale.

  • I'm totally doing Black Friday. It's a family tradition... really! When we have Thanksgiving on Thursday afternoon with my mom's (tremendously huge) side of the family, all of the girls get together along the tables and go through the ads to figure out exactly what we need from where. Then, if we need things from stores that open at the same time, we split things up. It's amazingly fun. The past couple of years I haven't needed to buy one single thing, but I still go for the fun and laughs. We have the best time.

Also, my opinion is that if you're going to be a crabby biitch about shopping on that particular day, then stay your asss home.

  • We'll be in Dallas, so I'm not sure if we're going out or not...we're staying near Grapevine, so need to make sure an Old Navy's in that massive outlet mall. I'm going to try and do as much online shopping as I can this year since we won't be at home - I don't want to deal with too many crowds.

  • Nope. I don't get off on the crowds, so I generally avoid it if I can. I rarely see anything in the ads I HAVE to have, and after Thanksgiving, I'm not interested in waking up at the crack of dawn the following day to go fight with mean old ladies over a $5 toaster.

I totally agree.  It ticks me off when people are shocked that they aren't the only person who decided to go shopping on Black Friday.

My partents, DH and I go Black Friday shopping together.  We usually hit up Toys R Us, Bass Pro or Cabela's, and Walmart or Target for bigger purchases like electronics, guns, hunting gear, etc.  Then, we'll go other places for deals on smaller gifts.

This is me---and so I absolutely stay home. In fact, I'm a huge Scrooge. I don't like shopping for Christmas gifts, period, so for the past 5 years I've purchased all but 2 items online while in my pajamas, then called it a day. I LOVE wrapping gifts, though. That's when I finally get in to the holiday spirit.

I am the opposite.  I really enjoy shopping for gifts, but I HATE wrapping.  I have a proposition for you: I'll do all your shopping, and you can do all my wrapping. Deal? =P

I used to be hardcore into Black Friday, but I have been less and less into it as I have gotten more into shopping locally.  I had planned to do some Small Business Saturday shopping this year, but I will have to be out of town over Thanksgiving, so I will have to miss out on both this year. =(  I plan to do a very large part of my Christmas shopping at the Deluxe Indie Craft Bazaar (http://www.deluxeok.net/).

  • I am a crabby b!tch on that day, so I stay my ass home :) Saving money is not worth it to me if I'm fighting a bunch of crazies. I'd much rather enjoy my shopping experience. (yes, I get some people enjoy the rush. I am not one of them).

Uh, wanna wrap for me, too? I HATE wrapping - I would stick everything in gift bags if I could.

  • I have never really been Black Friday shopping. I usually wait and go in the afternoon but I am wanting to venture out this year and pick up some things. The items I want from ON were things I plan to pick up anyways so since they are on sale a rediculous price I'm going to give it a shop. However, I do NOT plan to even attempt Wal-Mart or Best Buy. My plan is to just go to ON and head back home.

Be prepared to wait for hours in line at ON. As veteran Black Friday shoppers, ON is the one store that we all refuse to touch (well, ON and Toys R Us). We do WalMart, Target, etc... but we refuse to do ON. It's crazy hectic, the line is hours long, and the deals usually aren't worth the wait/hassle. I mean, EVERY store is crazy hectic, but ON has 'em beat!

But also, if you're going in Stillwater (that's my assumption), it might not be so bad - I don't know how the shoppers there are since the college kids go home to Thanksgiving and whatnot. We do our shopping in Owasso/Tulsa, so there's a pretty big difference.

Agree with this. As someone who worked used to work there while in college. ON is one of the craziest places during Black Friday. I suggest you get there early, know exactly where the item is that you want, and then get out as soon as you can.

  • We always go shopping Black Friday. We don't necessarily try to catch the deals on laptops and things like that though. We steer clear of WalMart and stores like that until late afternoon. We usually start at Central Mall in Lawton and work our way around town as more stores open. I love shopping that day because we always have so much fun. Yes, we may be sleep deprived and wait in long lines, but we always laugh and make it fun.

Yes I will be shopping the Stillwater store. I hope that since Stillwater does not have too many other big places to shop that it won't be too crazy. Thanks for the heads up!

  • I love catching some of the good deals on Black Friday, but you won't see me waiting in line in the wee hours of the morning.  I tend to hit Target and the mall in the mid-afternoon.  I miss out on the majorly deep discounts, but I usually have good luck with DVDs, etc. at Target.

On a related note, I did buy this Living Social deal:

    http://share.livingsocial.com/deals/173235?rpi=34905706&ref=personalized-link-box-34905706&rui=1757681

Anyone else get it?  My biggest complaint about BF is parking (and Penn Square is the worst!), so it seems way worth it to me.

  • We usually don't really do Black Friday.  I don't like dealing with the traffic and it seems like people are just so b!tchy.  We may have to venture to Lowe's or Home Depot this year though depending on what sales they are having.
