Re: Christmas Shopping...

  • We have a handful left to do. I started when I was on vacation in August. We delivered presents to DH uncle/cousins last week. The remainder may be gift cards or if we see something great in Costa Rica. For each other we agreed to buy a 4 wheeler so do not have to think of what to get DH. I did say I wanted something small (inexpensive) to open for christmas. We'll see. We are spending Christmas apart as i have lots of vacation time and can drive to my mom's (11 hrs) but he cannot take much time off. his mom is only 4 hrs away. Our mom's are getting older so we want to spend time with them. Our dads have already passed away.
  • haven't even started...lol I've looked at ideas for gifts, but lucky for me we draw names for my "adult" family so we got two people that are easy to buy for, and his parents and mine and then the kids... we were talking about getting a 'joint' gift for us so will see...

  • I start thinking about it in August or so and have a spreadsheet I keep with gift ideas and how much I have spent. Not anywhere close to done, but getting there.

  • We don't go crazy with gifts in our family.  We draw names among the 7 adults in my immediate family, and then we circulate a "wish list" via email to give the giver ideas of what we might like/want with a pre-determined minimum dollar amount that each spends.  So, other than one or two possible white elephant gifts, I only have to shop for my niece and nephew, one adult in my family, and of course Felix.  We'll buy a gift for Felix's mom, but he usually shops for that.

Since the person whose name I drew this year has not yet added their wish list to the email train, I'll just wait until that happens.  My niece's birthday is this month, so I'll wait till after the party to shop for her and my nephew.

    "You're the L and the V, I'm the O and the E...Am I speaking clearly?"
  • I have not gotten anything for anybody yet.  I started a list for DH since he has been bugging me for it.  Oh and DH and I started a list for his mom, dad and grandparents.  I usually start buying Christmas gifts on Black Friday.

  • We need to start, but not till mid- December :) I wish I wasn't this way, but it never fails.
  • I haven't even started. In fact we haven't even thought about what to get people. I'm thinking we may go the super easy gift card route.
  • I've gotten some done. But I still have a lot to do.

We are hoping to use our CC points to get a bunch of gift cards though. But even when I do get someone a GC I try to get them something small to give with it.
