Let's talk about the (high school) football madness in our own state..
Thoughts about Guthrie anyone?
Re: Let's talk about the (high school) football madness in our own state..
I think the OSSAA is full of a bunch of baffoons. They signed off on this kid's eligibility months ago - so why a change of heart all of a sudden? Yes, the family still owned a home in Prague...um, seems to me it would be pretty difficult to sell a home in middle of nowhere BFE Prague. Did the OSSAA expect the house to sell in a matter of days? The whole thing screams that the OSSAA screwed up and is trying to cover their butts.
And while we are talking about high school recruiting..Jenks, anyone?
Okay, kid moved from Prague to Guthrie. His mother is a teacher in Guthrie. They moved into a house in Guthrie - house is for sale in Prague. Transfer was accepted and signed off on by OSSAA. Okay, anonymous letter was sent into OSSAA about this particular student not having established residency in Guthrie. Apparently, a sibling of this football player was commuting between Guthrie and Shawnee for work and it got to be a hassle. Since house in Prague hadn't sold yet, he moved back to the house in Prague.
This is where the issue starts.
Then, some douche sent the OSSAA an anonymous letter that the Guthrie student wasn't actually a resident of Guthrie which would make him ineligible. And rather than sending the letter a month ago or two months ago, they chose to send it right before playoffs. So, essentially, this kid is now ineligible for playoffs whereas if the letter would have been sent two months ago, the kid would have been deemed ineligible *until* the residency thing got worked out (he would have sat out one or two games). The OSSAA initially determined Guthrie had to forfeit all of their games and would have to forfeit their right to the playoffs but they ended up suspending the coach instead. The best part is that the OSSAA has required Guthrie to forfeit their gate from playoffs...to the OSSAA.
Agreed. That was the one thing I forgot to say - OSSAA =
