Just wondering when everyone is planning on (or already has) decorated the house for the holidays. I'm thinking about making H break out the Christmas stuff this weekend, but he'll be so annoyed!

Re: When are you decorating?
I fail at the proper decor timeline this year.... But I feel like I have really good reasons!
Maybe I should post this as my FFFC...
I already have lights on my house. I was given the choice of having lights up (but not on) BEFORE Halloween or quite possibly not at all. Now, my ground lights aren't up yet but they will be before Tuesday.
The inside of my house will be at least partially decorated by Tuesday as well. We are having family pictures taken and I want to be able to have a Christmas theme.
I am a firm believer in the after Thanksgiving decorating but I don't have a choice this year.
I'm sure we'll be decorating the weekend after Thanksgiving, but the hiring someone to put up Christmas lights outside has me intrigued. Anyone have recommendations for that or an idea of how much that typically costs?
I will not give you a recommendation but I will give you some pointers since vendor posts are against the rules.
Ask how long they have been installing lights on a commercial basis.
Ask if they have insurance, liability to cover accidents and fire.
Ask if the lights are custom made or just spliced.
Ask where they get their lights and what grade they are... Home Depot, Walmart, commercial wholesaler.
Ask what all the fee covers. Does it cover the install, take- down, replacing bulbs, random maintenance calls - Are there extra fees for anything past the original install?
If you want LEDs understand they are not all created equally... The HD ones for instance are 1/3 as bright as one company I know of. Also, HD's lights can not be removed to create a clean line. You have to have bulbs in every socket.
As far as cost, I will tell you that not all "installers" are not created equal and price does vary quite a bit. I would stay away from the ones that charge by the hour.
Hope this helps!
