Abe needs juju

Come on Nestie JuJu!!

Abe has a closed tear duct. The doctor gave us about a month to do duct massage and after that Abe may have to have the surgery to open the duct. It is a common thing and a quick surgery but no mother wants to go through that.

So. Will you think good duct opening thoughts for us??

Re: Abe needs juju

  • Alright, Mr. Tear Duct-- you listen hard and you listen good: you WILL close up within the month without surgery; you WILL respond to the duct massage; and you WILL resolve without causing Abe and Brianne any more distress than you already have.

And if you know what's good for you, you WILL apologize for causing any trouble.

That is all, Mr. Tear Duct. Don't make me come over there.

I'm surprised that they recommend surgery for this. I was born without tear ducts and have only had a procedure mentioned to me once - however they may be two completely different things. Hope everything works out well for you!

  • It isn't the tears...he has plenty of those! They just don't have a place to drain because of the closed duct. So he always has a goopy/crusty eye. We've been dealing with it since birth.

  • My daughter Grace had the same issue, and it resolved on it's own right before her 15 month check-up.  I had been told they would do surgery if it hadn't resolved at the 1 year, but luckily they put it off for the next appointment.  Good luck!
