Help... Ugly furniture piece

H has a Craigslist addiction right now and just agreed to purchase this wretchedly ugly piece of furniture. What can I possibly do to this thing to make it at least moderately okay? Sorry no clicky.. On the iPad.

I think switching out the hardware would make a pretty big difference without being too much $$/effort.

Remove the scalloped trim pieces and add trim that is more modern. Paint it and add new hardware. It will be beautiful with a little work and small modifications.

Agreed! I kinda like the scallops though...

I think there's a lot of potential! You could paint it white or black or a fun color (like red or teal or something.) Change the hardware. You could paint the inside a cute color like this:
