We went to Dillards at Baybrook yesterday and had a silhouette made of DD. It was really neat. The guy just starts cutting freehand with scissors, and it only takes a few minutes. He usually comes to Houston every year and you can make an appointment or sometimes he can work you in if he has time. We got 3 made (one for me and one for both sets of grandparents) for $50. Easy Christmas presents! Here's his website:
A few years ago my mom was at the mall and it happened to be the day this silhouette artist was there so she had him make one of my nephew. He was 3 at the time. Then she made an appointment a couple of years later when my niece was the same age and she has them hanging together in her house, they're really cute! She's been waiting for him to come back this year for DD.
If anyone is interested he's at Dillards at Baybrook again today, then at Post Oak Mall 11/14-15, the Woodlands 11/16-17, and Memorial City Mall 11/18-19.
Re: Silhouette artist
my photography blog
He was here last year and he was amazing. Addie was wiggly and it took him about 5 minutes, 10 including framing it and finishing touches. I looked through his book and I just can't think of a word besides amazing! He had one of a pregnant woman looking out a window, a father and daughter dancing when she was a girl and then them dancing on her wedding day. i couldn't get over it!
Oh, I am SO doing this for my mom!!!! Thank you for posting this!
My mom has the silhouette of me (and maybe one of her and one of my dad?) that used to hang up in their house (I know she still has it, just not sure where). It is the neatest thing and I used to love looking at it.
Funny thing about who did it ~ y'all know Erica Rose, the chick who was on one of the seasons of The Bachelor (one with Lorenzo the prince dude) and who was on Bachelor Pad this summer? Her mom (yep, the plastic surgeon's wife!) is the one who did my silhouette. Isn't that bizarre? I guess that's what she did before they became rich and famous
