Hi Ladies! I am in charge of my 10 Year HS Reunion coming up in two weeks. We are having dinner and dancing at a nice venue. The venue provides centerpieces that are candles. At this point, the only thing that is class specific is the cake the we are having made, otherwise, there are no decorations or favors that will be specific to our class or our school. I am growing concerned that without the personal elements, the reunion will end up looking like a wedding. We do not have much money to spend, but really would like to bring some personal elements in...so with that in mind, do you have any suggestions on how to bring in decor or other elements that are specific to our class/school that will not break the bank? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Re: 10 year Class Reunion
We had NOTHING personal at our reunion, and that was actually a bummer.
Could you get a few pics from the year book/ submitted by other classmates blown up and have them around the venue? Blow them up at Wallgreens or something- even to 8x10 and get some cheap frames.
What was your prom theme? Could you use some details from that event, like playing some songs that were popular at the time, colors, anything special from the night (look at old pics for inspiration). Music is free!
Neither my reunion nor DH's was decorated in school colors at all. They were both cocktail parties with a couple large seasonal flower arrangements in key spots and tealights on the tables. If anything, I think trying to force a school-colors theme will make it feel like a wedding. Please no favors!
I do think photos are a must. Googling found this that I thought was a good look. Or you could always do a slideshow.
Regulars will tell you I am the anti-theme queen. Particularly on a limited budget, I'd throw the extra money into upgraded flowers rather than a couple inexpensive elements here and there. IMO, to make any theme look good, you've got to have tons of money to throw at it - repetition is what makes a theme and repetition costs money. If you try to add a few paper streamers, balloons, or napkins in school colors, you've gone to "oh, what a sad little budget they must have had." But do what you can afford and do it well and everyone will say what a nice event it was.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
they sell these big number balloons so you could get 2 of those "0" and "1", they are kind of expensive so not a lot of them.
One thing we did is we asked people to scan in pictures and we have a girl that's trying to keep that archive for us. She made a slideshow of the pictures, you could also print them out and have on boards around the room.
Definitely bring your yearbook
Pick up the "now" cd from your graduation year and have the DJ play that
