Photo books?

I know a lot of people here have made photo books in the past. I'm looking to make one but I don't want the thin pages (if that makes sense) that most websites offer. From what I can tell, that's what's available at Snapfish or Shutterfly.

I'm looking for thicker paper, maybe even hard pages, if you guys know what I mean. Just something a little fancier/more professional looking. Is there some place online that does this? I haven't had much luck searching.

Re: Photo books?

  • Have you checked blurb ?  I'm not sure if they let you choose your type of paper or not, but I've ordered from them before and it was a good experience. I don't know if you have any pro photog connections, but they usually belong to sites and or have vendors where only pros can order if you ask them maybe they can help out ?

  • Thanks! Looks like Blurb has some thicker paper options, so that's good.

I emailed my wedding photographer to ask for some suggestions, so we'll see if I hear back... I don't really know any pro photographers well who make these types of books. I know which site my wedding photog used for the album she made us but you have to be a professional to order from them.

  • We did our wedding albums through MyPublisher and I've loved them ever since. I'm happy with the paper thickness. They have lots of options for nice covers too, including leather. If you sign up for them, they email deals all the time.

  • Nice. I'll check them out.

Has anyone used Bay Photo in Santa Cruz?

I haven't, but several photojournalists have highly recommended them as their go-to place for printing. I couldn't get their software to download properly. Super Angry

  • Oh good to know. They were recommended by my wedding photog too. I might have to make a trip down there soon and check out all the different albums they offer (they have a ton of options!)
  • I found the picture quality of blurb to be poor.  I have had good luck with MyPublisher's products (and customer service when it hasn't been up to expectations).  I used picaboo for some calendars and really liked the bigger one but the smaller seemed cheap and the picture quality felt poor.
  • Adorama Pix

My friend used it and it's really nice! Thick pages (almost cardboard thick) and looks very professional.
