Monday Randoms

I have a bunch of good stuff on the DVR for my entertainment today.  Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Fred Clause.  Once R gets up from her little nap we'll head to Starbucks to get a coffee then head back home to watch our shows/movies.

  • Your day sounds perfect!

DH is leaving for up north to go hunting today.  Since I work nights, MIL is coming to stay for 3 nights.  Oh joy!  The good news is that since she will be here all during the day with nothing to do I can get out of the house and get some shopping/errands done without taking Ben.  Love when that happens!

      Shopping without kids is AWESOME!

  • Good morning!

I saw a Prince William look-alike at Meijer yesterday.  For reals.  He was right there in the produce department.  There was a striking resemblance.  I did a double-take.  And then he gave me a funny look because I may have been staring.  Hehe.

  • Sat night we had a bonfire with friends and our neighbors, I drank 2 woodchuck ciders and half a bottle of moscato.  Not a good combination, I got sick and had a wicked hangover.  Spent most of the day yesterday on the couch watching the Harry Potter marathon on TV :)

  • Did you guys notice the sunset yesterday?  It was dramatic and beautiful.

I caught just the end of it through the trees in my backyard.  The colors were stunning!  I wish I had been paying better attention.

Hope you are feeling better today! And - your new pic of Ben is soooo cute!

  • Hello all!

Yesterday we had friends visit which was awesome and it felt good to see people in the flesh for a change. Usually it's just phone or text msgs. These are the friends that the wife is 25 and has cancer so we got an update with her. Today will be her 5th out of 8 chemo treatments. So says its been going well but the 2-3 days after is when she is the sickest and the shot she has to get to increase white blood cell production makes her bones hurts a lot. She mentioned that she is reaching a point where the mental battle is starting to take a toll. I can't imagine going through what she is going through right now. I made us some Chai and we talked about some more things and then I introduced her to Goodreads.com since she wants to expand to book circle and also signed her up for Pinterest. She was excited to see pinterest. She said this is going to make Chemo more fun.

Having people stop over with just 2 hrs notice can really but a fire under your butt to clean up the house. Looks real decent in here today. Comcast is coming today to install our business line today.

It was incredible! We wanted to take pics of it, but didn't think it would truly translate how cool it was.

I am, thank you! Dry toast and ginger ale cured me :)

    And thanks!

  • Deeder - I can't imagine how hard that is for your friend, I'm glad you had a good time catching up.  Hope the rest of her treatments go smooth and she starts feeling better!

  • Perspective.

I'm irritable this morning.  No good reason.  People are just kind of annoying me and I'm not in a great mood.

But I really don't have anything to be down about, like Deeder's post reminded me.  I ought to shape up because there are people struggling with a lot bigger challenges than me.  Thanks for the reminder, Deeder (although, that's obviously not why you posted about your friend).

I hope your friend's remaining treatments go well.

  • I'm sick. My department is short people this week. I'm going to hibernate in my office. I wonder if anyone would look under my desk for me.....

  • Deeder, I'm glad you got to be with your friends.  I'll bet having Goodreads and Pinterest will help pass time during Chemo and the days that she is exhausted.

So, the Occupy folks are camping out at night at our church.  The kids asked me as we were walking in yesterday if they could sleepover too.

    I'm here to help. ;)

She ( Cassie) remind me a bit of what I was like. Raise in a strong Christian home and sheltered from some aspects of life and then sent off into to world. Lucky for both of us we found 2 great guys pretty quick. Cassie & Aaron relationship moved so fast that we really didn't get a chance to know her before the wedding. They were engaged within 3 months so we get to know each other afterwards. It kind of fun to find out what is similar with each other. Both redheads, same birthday, similar bone structure, taste in men. ;)

  • I'm having a hard time waking up.  I would give just about anything for a cappuccino right now.  Maybe I'll get one at lunch...

    Sleep

  • went to the doctor this morning because I'm still not feeling well, turns out it's probably an inner ear infection. Got some drugs which should help relieve the pressure/dizziness. Still bummed I had to miss my food blog conference but there's no way I would have enjoyed it.

DH is hunting up north, it's so weird! How does one cook for one person? And the dogs are fighting over my lap. Now I know what he feels like when I leave for work travel. I'm going to be a lot nicer to him now :-)

  • Did anyone else get the email about the Apple recall on First Gen Ipod Nano's?  We have two that have been dead for years, but heck yeah I'll get a replacement for free. MIL has wanted an ipod for a while, Merry Christmas to her!
  • Oh, wow, I'm sorry, GRSP.  That sounds beyond frustrating.  I'm sorry that you have to deal with that drama!

Rolling my eyes, and reminding myself that next year will be better.

How annoying!  How critical are the children of the bullying moms?  I'd love to tell them if that's how they feel, then fine.  Let their kids not participate.  Don't negotiate with terrorists!

That was my response, but it seems like at least 2/3 of the original leaders (I'm in training to take over next year) are in agreement that we could/should go back to how it was done 3 years ago.

I'm trying to be a team player but this is getting crazy.  It is a 20 minute pageant done once a year.  It's important and special, but I'm done with the politics and passive aggressiveness.

  • I put our sheets in the dryer an hour ago.  I went down to get them out of the dryer.....but I guess I didn't start it because the sheets were still wet.  I'm awesome.  LOL.

I did that last night.  Ha.

I walked past the dryer and was like "Wow, that sounds realllllly quiet.  Oh, hmmm.  Maybe I should check it."

    Hehe.

I don't handle either very well.  I think that's why I mostly keep to myself and have very few friends.  Ha.

Next year will be great if you are running the show.  :)

  • I just uploaded some (er, ok, a lot) of T's 1 year pro pics to Facebook.

Yes, he will be 2 in 2 months.

    Embarrassed

That's probably a smart plan.  I'm still sorry that you're dealing with this and what a bummer that all of your work on the rewrite is going to waste.  Why are some people such a PITA?

  • imageGRsweetpea:

GRAH!!!  So, I've vented here about the volunteer work I'm doing for the Christmas pageant.  Now... 2 weeks before rehearsals start... a few parents (who aren't on the committe at all) complained about the modern retelling of the story, and said that if we didn't do the traditional story, their kids wouldn't be participating.

Curious....what exactly is a "modern retelling" of the Christmas story, and how would it be offensive?

Why are some people such a PITA?

That is a question that I will never ever know or understand.  I don't understand why some people get into such a huff over things.  I feel like I'm a pretty go-with-the-flow type of person.

  • imageGRsweetpea:

In this story, J&M are relocating to GR because they can't find jobs on the east side of the state and they like the energy of the city (w/ Artprize mentioned because J is a sculptor).  M is pregnant, and the baby comes before they can reach the hospital.  Lil' J is born in the car, causing all of the people nearby on downtown streets to stop arguing/being distracted by unimportant things and to reflect on the beauty of the birth of a baby who a visiting angel say will change the world.

    That's the gist, anyhow.

    Interesting; thanks for explaining.
