Re: Thanksgiving desserts

  • i'm probably not making anything since we're traveling a distance and the hostess is a micromanager (lol!) but i think these are adorable and so simple:

  • I make a Death by chocolate trifle

     Chocolate cake mix

    Kahlua

    King size hershey bar

Heavy cream, Vanilla extract  & sugar to make whipped cream, or you could just buy whipped cream.

    Pudding.. either homemade or instant

Instructions:  Bake cake according to directions.  When it comes out of the oven, while still warm, use a fork and poke holes all throughout.  Pour 1/2 cup kahlua over cake and let absorb till cool. Break apart hershey bar into  thumb nail sized pieces.  Layer ingredients how you choose in trifle.  I usually do Cake, pudding, whipped cream, chocolate.  2 layers (depending on depth of your trifle glass)  It is always the first thing to go.

I also make Chocolate cream pie which is purchased gram cracker crust, pudding filling and whipped cream with shaved chocolate on top.

  • Orange crannberry cookie bars.   I got the recipe from one of the Nesties over at the What's cooking board.  I'll try to find the link again.  I went on a bookmark cleaning spree and I think I deleted most non-HV nestie blogs.  LOL
