Do you have a dish rack in your kitchen?
I noticed that in most personal pictures (so not for a magazine or an open-house) of kitchens, there is no dish rack on the counter-top. I've always wondered if people would just hide it before taking the pictures or if they simply don't use one.
Do you use a dish rack in your home? If no, do you just dry everything in your dishwasher or right away with a dish towel?
Re: Do you have a dish rack in your kitchen?
Yep. It's a doozy, too, and it's always out. We have no dishwasher so it's almost always full. or just been emptied.
You can see it in use:

;-)
Oh those photos are always staged. I mean, who in real life has fruit in a vase and nothing but fresh flowers and a cheese board on the counters?
That said I do know some people who don't have a dishrack and I have no idea what they do with wet dishes. Ours is always out and in use.

Yep, we have one on our counter and it is always out and almost always full...
My IL's don't have one but they rarely cook so most of their dishes are dishwasher-friendly. Or, if they have a big family/holiday meal that produce a lot of dishes, my MIL just spreads a kitchen towel on the counter and puts the washed stuff on there. Somebody is either drying them right away or I think she stops mid-dishwashing to dry and put away when the towel is full...
I have done that.

get him some kidishes - they're made of duralex so they're unbreakable (and we've tested them) and when he outgrows them you can use them as salad/side/dessert dishes. then those can go in the dishwasher and you can nix your dishrack :-)
yes and its usually filled w/ sippy cups as i DO NOT put them through the dishwasher.
if anyone was going to photograph my kitchen though (HORRORS !! at the mere thought of that !!) i'd hide that thing in a nanosecond .....
I need a dish rack for all of Rosie's bottles and parts. For the moment I just lay everything on a towel to air dry. I could never post a picture of the current state of our kitchen because it is so crowded with bottles and appliances. I used to think our kitchen was a mess the first year of marriage and now I wish we had that kitchen back. Stupid tiny apartment kitchen!
ah. we use regular glasses for him - these:
