hello mommies!
also postedin MH..
I saw another post where someone wanted to make a handprint ornament but i can't find it now...
I would like to get some type of clay to make LO's handprint ornament for Christmas but i don't want to buy a kit as we will be making 7 of them to give as gifts.
Someone on the other post had suggested polymer clay..so i went and bought it ($20.00!!!) but even after kneading it for about 20 minutes and adding baby oil, it was still way too hard...we would have broken LO's hand had we even tried to use it! Someone else suggested the crayola clay but when I was speaking to the girl at Michael's, she said that it looks like styrofoam when it is dried and can shatter very easily. She suggested to use cement...umm not gonna dip my 8 week old daughter's hand in cement! lol anyways, all the other clays i have found are either too hard or we need to keep LO's hand in it for a minimum of 5 minutes. There is nooo way she would let us do that!! Please keep in mind that i didn't really have time to read every box or clay at Michael's, and the staff was not really any help...
If anyone has any idea of a good soft clay that is white and can be baked and that i won't have to press too hard, please let me know! Also, I would like to use a clay, not salt dough and I would love to do this as a keepsake for us and family.
TIA

I vote for salt dough as well.
Have you thought about those cinnamon ornaments? You mix cinnamon and applesauce, and it makes a clay or dough, and smells great for YEARS!
THank you, I will try this! Can I put a clear coat or pain on it?
I had this site pinned from Pinterest, but I havent read the details yet. Hopefully it helps you.

I did the same last year and painted it with pearlescent white. We are using it again this year to make these: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Zvyq0Nw_6s4/TGSHzx3royI/AAAAAAAAAVs/7FEXbCqbWpE/S350/058.JPG
