displaying magnet collection

My DH collects magnets from all the places we go. It isn't a huge collection, 10 magnets maybe. I'd like to put them together as a display for him for Christmas, rather than up on our fridge. Any display ideas? So far I've come up with 1. a galvanized serving tray or 2. magnetic board . Between those choices, I'd probably go with the magnetic board and maybe put something travel related on it (a quote or cover it in a map? I don't know).

Ideas? Thanks!

Re: displaying magnet collection

  • Maybe take the glass out of a photo frame, glue a map down and then hot glue the magnets onto the map?

  • I like the map idea! Cute

This is a great idea! Thank you so much. I felt like the magnet board and galvenized tray ideas were a little "flat".

I would take this a step farther. Get a large-ish frame (Goodwill is always my go-to for cheap yet sturdy frames) and some magnetic spray paint; paint the glass and decorate the frame (maybe decoupage map or travel images to it?). Hang the magnets on the newly magnetized glass. Then he can rearrange and add to the collection to his heart's content and you don't have to worry about marring the magnets with hot glue.

  • Do you know where I would get this magnet paint and how I would prep glass for paint? Just sand it with sandpaper?
