Random: Diners, Drive-ins and Dives
I've been watching a lot of this show lately. I thought it would be fun to talk about your favorite local places and your favorite "I can only get this in one place" dish. It doesn't have to necessarily be from a DDD-esque place. Just no chains.

I've been to one DDD featured restaurant. Hank's Haute Dogs on Waikiki Beach. I got a Hawaiian Hot Dog with mango and pineapple on it. It was really good!
Metro Diner is on my list next time I'm in Jax. I WANT the french toast that was on DDD!
As far as local places/dishes, I'll say I loooove the duck fat fries with garlic sauce at Hopjacks in Pensacola. Also in Pensacola, A Wing and a Prayer has the greatest everything. THE BEST wings with so many flavor options, yummy homemade potato chips, great sandwiches.
I love anything from Chet's, especially the grouper. I've heard Blue Dot downtown has amazing burgers, but I've never been. I also second the duck fat fries, they're awesome. Three Sisters in Devillers has the best fried chicken in town. Ace's in Milton has the best fried pickles and sweet potato fries, anything on their menu is good though. Big City Bistro in Fort Walton has an awesome stuffed portabello mushroom.
ETA: I've been to Marietta Diner in GA and it was featured on DDD. They have the most amazing cakes and pies I have ever seen/tasted. I've also been to the Shed, but the one in Destin, not the tiny one in Alabama. I've heard the tiny one is better.
There's this awesome place called Mac's Drive-in in Clemson that we really loved. Anything from there was good (burger and fries type place). It was even featured on ESPN when FSU came to Clemson in 2007.
My favorite place in Clemson though was this place called Main Street Deli. They had the BEST chicken salad sandwich and tomato bisque soup. I haven't found anything similar anywhere else.
Potbelly Deli was another popular local place in Clemson that was really good.
There isn't anything in Jacksonville that comes to my mind other than Metro Diner. I haven't tried many of the local places since we've been back in FL though.
I keep wanting to try Ozone. I have heard it's very good. Speaking of pizza....I LOVE Tuscan Oven. That's another local place. Their pizzas are wood-fired. They have a spinach and ricotta pizza that is OMG!
I have never been to Flounders to eat. I went one time to meet up with friends to see a band. A guy grabbed my butt and about got pummeled by my friends. I didn't even get a drink, I just wanted to leave.
Flounders after about 8 is not the place to be for food, but before that it's great.
I forgot about Ozones. Yum. There also used to be a place next to Ozones called Madison's. It was wonderful.
