How is the meal planning going? I know you just started but the beginning was the hardest part IMO.

Re: **Jodippls**

  • Breakfast and lunch are pretty easy b/c I'm eating the same thing everyday so far. Dinner is more of a challenge but I've found several things on Skinnytaste that I'm planning to make. I think it will get easier as I get used to it.

    Thank you for asking! It's nice knowing people that are familiar with what I'm doing.

  • I take the same approach to breakfast and lunch. Coffee and banana for breakfast every day, and then I have about 3 or 4 lunch options that I rotate. I have relied very heavily on the skinny taste website for dinner ideas. I'm not much of a cook and not very creative so having a website that comes up with yummy options (that DH will also eat) and gives me the points? Awesome.

    Don't hesitate to ask if you need any input or suggestions. I feel like I'm a pro by now!

  • I've also found it helps to have things prelabled with points. I labeled all my Chobani yogurt, my string cheese, my pita pockets and a few other things.

     I get a lot of points right now and I'm not sure I'll always meet the goal which I guess is better than going over. With my planned breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner today I still have 7 points left. I'm liking the zero points fruit and veggies.

  • I labeled food in the beginning also. Eventually I just remembered a lot of things.

    As for using your points, with the new system, I believe it's best to get as close to your daily points as possible. Obviously you don't have to eat if you're not hungry, but if you've got 7 points left and feel hungry, go ahead and let yourself have a snack. It used to be a points range but now it's really a number they want you to try and hit (at least that's my understanding).

    You can skip using the extra weekly points if you don't need them though. I usually use mine and still lose weight so don't hesitate to use them if you want to.

  • Tonight's extra points will probably be wine points.

    I'm pretty sure the extra points will be useful on the weekends since we tend to eat out a lot.

  • My extra points almost always go to alcohol and/or eating out.

  • I'm not sure what else I would want to use the extra points on. It's not like I want to sit around eating more grilled chicken breast and veggies. I want chocolate cake. Lol!

  • Well, the biggest piece of advice I can give you is to not completely deprive yourself. Have some chocolate cake once in a while. If there are certain things you really love, find a way to fit them in instead of completely cutting them out. That's how people fall off the wagon. For example, I love potato chips. I make sacrifices elsewhere to fit them in.

    You will get sick of chicken and veggies very quickly. Spice it up a little by using the skinny taste website and then mixing in stuff you like sometimes. Also, she has a lot of really good sweets recipes so you can have your chocolate cake. :)

  • I haven't looked at her desserts yet but I'll probably check them out soon.

    Thank you again for the support. I really appreciate it.

  • You're very welcome. It was life changing for me the first time I used it and even though I gained weight back in grad school it has made a huge difference for me again this time around.

  • :: Butting In ::

    I just discovered the skinnytaste site.  The bang bang shrimp I made the other night were from her site and were really good.

    :: Butting Out ::

  • I'm going to have to make her Bang, Bang Shrimp for DH. He loves them.

    Also, you're not butting in!
