I am so so sad...my Cricut is broken. I didnt even use it very much in the 2 years that I owned it, but the blade is dragging. I found some tutorial online to reboot the machine, but it didnt work. Then I called customer service and they helped me update my firmware etc. And basically they told me Im SOL.
Now my question is, whats the difference between the silhouette and cricut? Im wondering if I should just get the silhouette....my main thing I like to do is cut stuff out and possibly design my own things on the computer. Thanks!
Also, do you know if these go on sale for black friday?

This!
CRAFTY ME
my read shelf:
Go with Silhouette if your stuck on just those two. I don't have a Silhouette, but I do have a Cricut and from all the other reviews I've seen, the cutting quality of Sil is far better than Cricut. And from your situation, you've already found out ProvoCrafts customer service is not very customer friendly. They've got your money and your are stuck cutting THEIR designs on their expensive cartridges (even at $15-$20 on ebay/Cricutmachine.com its still expensive compared to the FREE images you can find online to use in 3rd party software). And there are other machines out there besides the crap PC puts out and the much better Silhouette America. I just got my KNK Zing, so I haven't gotten to play with it quite yet, but the AMAZING support from KNK and Make-The-Cut is incredible and worth the higher price tag.
ETA: you can always sell your cartridges.

sooooooooooooo jealous!!! and if you do end up with a silhouette, i'd probably go with the cameo at this point, not too many retailers are selling the SD (8in cut width vs 12 with the cameo), and used cartridges sell very well on ebay.
