Gift ideas for a 2 year old?

What are the hot new toys out there for a 2 year old girl? ?Any recommendations are most appreciated!

Re: Gift ideas for a 2 year old?

  • Anything "real". Roleplay is huge at this age. Kaitlyn loves things like her play dishes, makeup and her fav is her baby doll stroller. I don't think she'd like to dress up quite yet, but for Christmas we got her a toy vacuum, play food, more dishes for home. They will like anything that they can imitate adults doing.
  • Snap N Style dolls! I haven't met a 2yo yet who didn't LOVE them! And they're inexpensive, too. I agree with the dress-up/role play ideas . . . also, puzzles are pretty popular at this age. Or, if you want the gift that keeps on giving, get a subscription to BabyBug or LadyBug magazine . . . it's a small reader and kidslove getting mail for themselves. For age 2, though, I'd go with LadyBug because by the time you get towards the end of the subscription, BabyBug is a little young for them. BabyBug would be better for the 1yo.
  • Elmo Live is pretty big right now, but its about $50.  Brianna is big into kitchen stuff.  She plays with this big play kitchen at daycare and loves it!   She also really loves to color!  Crayola has these new crayons that only work on their special paper, so it excellent at preventing unwanted drawings on your wall!  Sensory tables.  Play vaccum and mop.  Anything Dora.  Brianna also loves music and dancing.  She has a CD player/boom box thing at daycare that she likes to play with. = )
  • I love all the suggestions regarding domestic play imitation, but another cool thing is the aqua doodle mat, its huge and no mess, and fun!

The toddlers I work with usually love Play-Do too!
