what is the best type of scissors to cut fabric?

I am making jedi robes and cutting lightweight material. Is there a type of scissors that I should use for this? thanks for any tips!

Re: what is the best type of scissors to cut fabric?

  • Hmm, my favorite shears right now are Mundial. They sharpen up great and the steel holds its edge for a really long time. I use to be in love with Gingers. I haven't been pleased with their quality the last 3 or 4 years.

  • Honestly, the most important thing I've found is to get a pair that are nice and sharp and then to never let them be used on paper - paper dulls scissors very quickly. An easy way to sharpen dull scissors if you can't get them to a professional is to cut strips of medium grade sand paper
