mommy's do I need all three?

We had our shower this past weekend and I was blessed enough to end up with the Snugabunny swing, snugabunny bouncer and the rock and play sleeper.  Does/Did your baby use all three?

We did not and are not planning on using a pack n play- we are on one floor. I think the rock and play would be great for occasional naps in the living room.

Re: mommy's do I need all three?

  • The rock and play thing did not exist when DD was born, but I think it looks nifty. The swing and bouncer serve different purposes -- the swing is great because it swings, and the bouncer is great because it's a portable place to stash the baby. Some babies like bouncing, too (Helen couldn't have cared less about the bouncing/vibrating part). I'd keep all three. You never know what will work.

  • We had a bouncer but didn't use it much except for a place to put her while I was in the kitchen cooking.  The swing we kept in the living room and she napped there sometimes.  Never had a rock n play.....but I've heard they are pretty great, especially if baby has reflux.  I'd keep all three (for now, until you know what works for LO).

  • Keep all, all babies are different and you may find that one rocks their world more than another and then it may switch.

  • We had a swing and bouncer.  Only used the bouncer when we needed to set him down for short periods of time. The swing was large and not as portable, so we left upstairs and never really used it. Developmentally, I'd always hear the PTs I work with preaching that it's not good for babies to sleep in the crouched up positions like car seat, bouncer, swing, rock and play, etc.  I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem here and there, but we always aimed sleeping on the back flat...of course if it was one of 'those' days, we'd go with what works...but we tried to not make a habit out of using the accessories. But, you never know what your baby will like/need.  I'd take one out and keep the rest in boxes.  Open as you need them, but if not, you can return.  By the 3 month mark if you haven't used one, I'd say return it.

I can't believe it's so soon for you!  Exciting!

  • I think it's overkill to have all 3 personally.  Babies have sooo much stuff, I think less is more.  I think I would go with swing and bouncer because the bouncer I think you could use a little longer than that rock and play which looks like it's more for newborn.  It also might not hurt to have a pack and play if you ever spend the night away from home.  Marcus is 2 and he still uses one for overnights at the grandparent's and at daycare for naps.

  • My IL's have a PNP at their house and we can use it if needed.

I am feeling the overkill our house feels like it's been taken over with baby stuff and LO isn't here yet.

  • I've heard great things about the RNP but havent found a need for it. We use the swing a lot (well, it lets me pump and shower). The cat has used the bouncer more than the baby.

  • I didn't have the RNP, but my boys loved both the bouncer and swings.  I would say that since you have the option of the PNP at your parents, I personally would return the RNP.

  • They didn't have the RNP when the boys were little... but I think Carly said that Liam loved his.

The boys LOVED their swings... we used it for naps a lot and also a place for them to hang out while I was changing/feeding/otherwise engaging the other.

We never really used the bouncer because they either were hanging out in the swing, on the boppys or sleeping in their crib/PNP

  • I would keep all 3 but my babies liked to be rotated a lot so we would go from swing to bouncer to floor etc I loved the RNP Liam slept in it a lot especially since he had reflux it helped keep him inclined a little so he didn't have to lay flat.

  • I would keep the swing and the bouncer .If you're on one level then the little one can take a nap in his/her crib or they'll fall asleep in the bouncer or the swing. Th swing is soothing and the bouncer is a nice little place to keep baby sitting while doing things. DD loved sitting in the bouncer while I cooked or folded diapers. Feel like the rocker only has one purpose so if I was getting rid of one, that would go. You can always go back and get it if you really need it, in the meantime exchange it for something that you know you'll need.
