Contact lens question

I have an astigmatism in one eye, but it isn't very strong, so I always used "regular" contact lenses (not the toric).

Recently though, changing between glasses and contacts, the non-astigmatism contact lenses have been bothering me (too weak of a prescription), so I figured I would go with the toric.

OMG.. my eyes hate the lens!  The optometrist said it takes a couple days to get used to the toric lens - it is both that it is thicker and the shape is diff - but the eye is super blurry and I hate the feeling of the lens.

Anyone else go through this?  Obviously the optometrist was spot-on about the lens feeling odd, but that lens is SO blurry (and we even tried a different prescription in that eye).  Does it really resolve itself quickly?

Re: Contact lens question

  • I haven't, but my sister has had that same issue. It did resolve itself over time. I'm always over cautious when it comes to my eyes, so I'd give a call to the doc to make sure what you're experiencing is normal vs. an issue with the lens, etc.

  • I have an astigmatism in one eye and I wear Acuvue Oaysis (sp) for astigmatism in that eye and a regulary Acuvue Oaysis in the other.

My astigmatism lense seemed bigger and thicker at first, but I got used to it.

  • I think I also wear Acuvue oasis-toric in my left and regular in my right eye. The problem with torics is that since they're weighted, they do rotate when you blink so every time you blink, the lens rotates-this throws off the axis of your astigmatism which makes it look blurry-then it rotates back into place and clears up-but this happens constantly. If you have a low amt of astigmatism, its not as noticeable, but if its a high amount then you'll notice it a lot more.
