What are you reading right now?
What have you read lately that you would recommend?
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.
Re: What are you reading?
What are you reading right now? I'm finishing up Sting's autobiography, Broken Music. I recommend it. He's a good writer.
What have you read lately that you would recommend? Besides that I recommend the Murdoch Mysteries books by Maureen Jennings. They are the books the TV show is based on. I'm about to start the 3rd one, Poor Tom is Cold.Donate to My Pancreatic Cancer Research Page
I'm reading #3 of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I recommend reading it immediately after #2
I'm also reading the Hunger Games books. I'm starting #3 soon.
It looks like I'm exhausting my books. I'll be interested to get some more ideas from you all.
What are you reading right now? Right this minute nothing. I need to check and see what I have loaded on my reader, and start something soon.
What have you read lately that you would recommend? I finished Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah Sunday night and highly recommend it. I loved everything about it and love how she writes. Also Firefly Lane by the same author is equally amazing.
I liked Firefly Lane too (and have Winter Garden waiting on my bookshelf).
Right now I just started Let the Right One In after finishing Janet Evanovich's One for the Money (that was good, but I my expectations were higher).
Some ones I loved that I'd highly recommend: The Bronze Horseman, Unbroken (by the same woman who did Seabiscuit) and Into Thin Air. All three were incredible. My favorite book of the year is still the lighthearted YA novel Anna and the French Kiss.
I'm reading the Poisoner's Handbook right now. I'm not very far into it and I'm really enjoying it so far.
I just finished Wildwood by Colin Meloy (the front man for the Decemberists) and I *really* enjoyed it.
Before that I read the latest Emily Giffen - the title escapes me. it was meh.
I'm currently on #5 in the Stephanie Plum series. I'm enjoying them (need some mindless reading right now). But I know you weren't a big fan.
Others I've read recently and liked: Under the Banner of Heaven, Room, The Book Thief. I also read A Stolen Life (the Jaycee Dugard book) a few months ago. I liked it based on my interest in her case, but it is disturbing. And I read No Rest for the Dead and thought it was just ok.
wait, what? You didn't like Stephanie Plum? How is that even possible?
I am writing down suggestions for books because I am getting a Kindle for Christmas. The Hunger Games are probably going to be my first read on my Kindle.
I read an excerpt in EW of Stephen King's new book 11/22/63 and it seems like it will be a good read.
I'm on book 3 of the Hunger Games-it is SOOOO good!!
<butting in>
She said it was "fairly good. Not as engaging or addicting as I had hoped." (Sorry, I outted you :P )
Haha. S'ok. I didn't dislike it or anything. It was good. But just good, you know? I guess with all the hype I expected it to be more addicting (like the Sookie Stackhouse books were). I'm undecided as to whether I'll continue reading them.
I see. I find them to be hilarious and they're good to read in between books that make my brain hurt :-) They're about as mindless as I get, actually.
I'm torn on reading the sookie stackhouse books. I'm kindof over vampires.
You should read them. They're mindless and way more funny than JE. Plus, the men, even in the books, are just hot. A fair amount of sex in these books too.

They can never ever be sexy to me.

So this is not sexy to you?
how close to the books is the tv show?
(and yes - that is sexy. But I thought Angel was sexy. And the Lost Boys. And Dr. Cullen. ;-) )

That's what he looks like as a vampire.
E, the first season of True Blood is similar to the first Sookie Stackhouse books. After that, the TV series is only very loosely based on the books.
ETA: I'm fair skinned so being fair complexioned doesn't bother me but having zombie patchy pale skin and darkness around the eyes is not. Nor blood around the mouth. Ick.

Maybe I'm crazy but I don't think he's that sexy. Or maybe it's the photo. His head looks disproportionately small for his body, IMO.
