Good morning. Its supposed to be 42 in my neck of the woods today. Not terrible.
Re: Chilly Wednesday Randoms
H's job is safe (for now). He said based on the information he got yesterday, it sounds like they are trying to get rid of H's boss, the regional manager.
That would be amazing since she is awful at her job, lazy, and deceitful. They've had plenty of issues with her in the past, so hopefully they are finally going to do something about it.
And really, H's worklife would be a hundred times better without her. She causes so much uneccessary stress.
Fun! I want to paint my basement. What color are you thinking?
Molly, glad to hear that there may be some improvement in the future to Desmond's worklife.
My H's worklife is not good right now and he's pretty unhappy. And grouchy. He got a new boss about six months ago, and things aren't going well with him and he's making my husband pretty miserable/angry. And it just seems to be getting worse, not better. And then he comes home from work every night pissed off. Blah. I convinced him to take this Friday off (I'm off too) and of course next week is a short week. I'm hoping the time away from work will help diffuse the situation a little. Wishful thinking, probably.
I'm thinking of a light blue. Thoughts?
I posted this on D&R:

We'll be about the same here.
I'm starting to think the pistachio's are rolled in crack and not salt b/c I can not stop eating them.
DH is suppose to have a business meeting with his former boss. I wonder how it will turn out. DH just finished a large deal for them b/c this former employer didn't have anyone on staff that knew the software that the client wanted or any of the hardware needs that would go into it either.
Good morning....long time, no type.
I have today off so I'm to get some stuff cleaned up. Then the girls and I are going to the mall. First I have to stop off at my insurance agents office since they can't get our homeowners insurance policy right. We have called them twice to tell them we no longer have it in escrow so they need to send up the bill. They have told us twice that they will and we still haven't receive a bill yet and it is due next week. I sent an email this week and no response. So annoying!
I've been on the hunt for the perfect gray-blue for my dining room and it's a fail. I've bought 3 sample cans and have swatches painted all over the place. I am terrible at choosing colors
Last year TH's work threw a pretty nice Christmas party. It is on the other side of the state where the main office is, so they put us up in a hotel for the night. I've been looking forward to this for MONTHS!! He found out two weeks ago that they are cutting back and having their party on a Friday afternoon from 2-5 pm.
We decided to redeem some credit card points for a hotel gift card and are going to stay in Auburn Hills. I will drop him off at the party and shop or maybe hopefully visit a really cool person with a very cute baby.
Then we are going to go to Rochester that night to look around downtown and then go to Great Lakes Crossing the next day. We really need this night away.
Remember the appraisal that we got last week for our mortgage refi? It came back way low.
But I feel like we have grounds for an appeal because I think there were a number of inaccuracies on it. The biggest one (I think) is that 3/4 of the "comparable houses" that they used are in GRPS and we are not. So, I think that would unfairly pull down the value of our home, yes? I think they should be using houses in our zip code and school district. I found other problems with the appraisal as well, particularly when I compared it to the one done in 2008.
Anyone have luck with getting appraisals changed?
I love the gray blue we had in our livingroom at our last house. I would love to paint (the already painted half of my) basement that color, but we can't figure out which one it was. Boo!
I think gray-blue is a really tricky color to get right. I tried to find this color for our guest room. It was one of those that looked perfect on the paint sample, but once the room was done, it just looked like light blue (and not so much gray). It wasn't bad and I didn't dislike it, it's just not what I had in mind.
Awww boo.
I have never had to dispute an appraisal, but I think it's possible! Good luck.
Did it go down a lot since the one you had done in 2008?
Fun! And nice to see you here.
Kasa, I hope Kaso and the new boss work things out. I know the post work adgitation you're talking about. It's hard to live with long-term.
GVSU, your getaway sounds great. With a scaled down party, you won't have to try to make small talk with people you barely know. And, you don't have to worry about putting your foot in your mouth with people you kind of know.
A visit to that person and her baby would be fun, I'll bet. I'm trying to get there still, too.
Yesterday the kids and I went to Blandford because I knew we weren't going to be seeing 60 degrees for a while. It was a really nice little walk in the woods with them. There's a new natural play area there; fun to climb and balance and make our own branch fort.
It went down 9%.
The lender seems willing to work with us on it and already asked if we saw any inaccuracies. So, I'm hopeful.
Awww, that really stinks.
H's boss works in cycles. She's fine for a while, then absolutely awful for a while, rinse, repeat.
During the really awful times, we've actually sent out H's resume all over the place looking for anything. And then she gets better. But then she always gets worse.
It's not good for our marriage. I get to a point where I am so fed up with him complaining about her, I ask him to stop talking about work at home. But then I feel awful because I know he needs to vent.
I really really want this woman gone.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that I feel your pain. I hope things get better with B and his boss, and I also hope you both enjoy your 2 long weekends in a row.
This year, my H's office party is on a Monday evening. With a mandatory, all-hands meeting on Tuesday at 8am. Great planning on that one. In the past, they've rented out Crush nightclub, taken over Naya, and several other schmancy-pants shindigs. This year... meh.

That sounds promising! Good luck.
Yes! This is the problem I'm having. So frustrating. Gotta do something soon though because the neighbors are going to think we are crazy with multi colored walls.
GVSU, what a bummer on the party but your plan sounds super fun!
Kasa, I would says GRPS would definitely play a role in the pricing of the house. I would call them and point it out and see if they can readjust.
Freeburger - have you checked out the nest paint bio? http://sites.google.com/site/thepaintbio/Home
I like SW Silvermist and Valspar Woodlawn Silver Brook from the "Blues and Purples" section.
Thanks. I think B is particularly frustrated because he really has been pretty happy with his job and company and doesn't want to leave. So the fact that this new boss is causing a lot of issues is pretty sucky.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that things get worked out for your H. Work angst that spills over is not good. I think we've probably all been on both ends of that. We have friends who for awhile both hated their jobs and they had a "no talking about work" rule at home. It worked for them. But I do think it's better to be able to talk about it.
Oh, the details are so, so absurdly funny.
Kasa, I'm sorry about the appraisal. It's got to be a kick in the teeth to see a 9% loss, and frustrating to see errors. I hope you get it straightened out.
I think we have our house priced pretty well, but I'm living in fear that the appraisal is going to come back significantly lower. Just typing that gives me an ulcer.
Did I miss something? Did you get an offer or are you talking about when you get an offer?
I'll let you know if we're successful with the appeal. Then it will give you -- and everyone! -- hope that we can stand up to the banks! WE ARE THE 99%!
And with that, I've got to get some work done. Pesky people keep emailing me... wanting things. WTH?
Dang it. I was really hoping I missed something.
Hee hee. Way to Occupy!
Oooh I love that silvermist! I always get Behr paint though (no reason other than we always have), I'll have to find a SW store and get a sample of that. Thanks for sharing that blog!
