Beginner sewing ideas I can make for my DD
I am a very beginner sewer. I pretty much hem pants and sew straight lines (book slings) haha. I would love to sew something for DD. I have three glorious hours this weekend that MIL is going to watch DD and DH is out of town. I would love some ideas for beginner sewers that I could start on this weekend.

Taggie toy
Blanket
Pillowcase
Fabric book (they have pre-printed panels at the fabric store that are pretty much straight seams with directions on how to put them together.
I started with making skirts for my girls. I used this tutorial http://www.dana-made-it.com/2008/07/tutorial-simple-skirt.html
They are actually really simple, IMO. Almost all straight lines and my girls LOVE being able to pick out their own fabric. The only thing I would recommend picking up if you don't have one is a bodkin for threading the elastic. Its a pain to do without.

Blankets, pyjama pants, scarf, pillow covers.
Thank you for this! I will probably try this beause I wanted to do a clothing item.
A pillowcase dress might be a good step up from the skirt.
