Have you ever cried over a celeb death?
I cried when Christopher Reeve died. I LOVED him and he always reminded me of my dad, who died when I was 11.
I'll probably cry when Michael J. Fox and Tom Hanks die. They were very present figures in my childhood. (Splash, anyone?? I was obsessed
)
Anyone else?

Re: Have you ever cried over a celeb death?
Patrick Swazye (sniff, sniff)
Yes, Aaliyah.
and Princess Diana of course.
my read shelf:
Ah yes, Patrick Swayze was rough.
I remember my mom putting her head down and crying quietly when the news about Princess Diana came out.
I cried over Diana too. I woke up to watch her funeral and cried more.
I didn't cry over his passing per se, but hearing stories of Paul Newman's generosity towards those in need has always put tears in my eyes--and many of those came out when he died. I disagreed with his political views, but as a man and human being, he was one of the great ones to grace this earth.
I'll probably cry over Bill Cosby and it's a good possibility that I may cry when Yogi Berra passes on.
It's difficult to think about a topic like this--especially with people you think may have a long life ahead of them. That's why I've only really listed old people.
I cried when John Candy died. My mother died a few months before he died and he was one of her favorite actors, so his death made me cry.
I also cried when Heath Ledger died and when Princess Diana died.
I have never cried over a celeb's death, but Michael Jackson's death kind of shook me up since it was unexpected.
My mom cried when Elvis died. He was one of her favorite singers and he died on her birthday.
When Jerry Orbach died I cried. I still get sad when I see him on L&O reruns.
my read shelf:
A photo of loved ones left behind is more likely to bring a tear to my eye than the death itself.
I've never cried over a celeb death. I do not know any of these people.
ETA- I stand corrected.
I cried when Daddy died. The red pit bull on Cesear Milan's show. There. See, I'm not truly heartless.
I mourned when John Denver died. He was my favorite singer when I was growing up. His love for the environment, nature, and the mountains rubbed off on me. I saw him in concert 3 months before he died.
The night of his funeral, they did a biographical tribute to him on TV. After the show was over, I went to bed, feeling teary and sad. I woke up a couple hours later to the sound of coyotes in the back yard. It was the first time I had heard coyotes on Cape Cod. I was startled at first, but then I smiled, because their howls reminded me of John and the wilderness.
No, never. Honestly, I can not even think of a living celebrity whose death would cause me to cry.
I cried like a baby when Johnny Cash died. Also, Minnie Pearl (I don't know if anyone knows who she is) I grew up with them.
Princess Di. My mom loved her and we both stayed up all night after the crash and then when they pronounced her dead we both cried.
I got teary-eyed when Princess Diana died, when Heath Ledger died, and when Patrick Swayze died. I cried an ugly cry when John Ritter died.
I LOVED Gene Kelly! The day he died I stayed up until 1am watching Brigadoon. Then I spent too much money on ebay for an autographed photo lol
Seriously...the 8 Simple Rules show after he died would make me ugly cry almost every episode when they would talk about him. My best friend and I would watch the show and I would be a complete mess.
Michael Jackson. I've always been a big fan, and really believed in his talent underneath the creep he'd become.
I listened to a lot of Jackson 5 after he died and that made me really sad. He was a phenomenal talent, and had so much promise when he was younger. But he was exploited by his parents, by his management, etc., and it stunted him emotionally. He never really seemed happy, did he?
My Lunch Blog
I cried when JFK JR. and Heath Ledger died.
Whenever they do a special on someone who passed away I cry.
Michael Hutchence.
and Princess Di.
I was living in London when they past so it was also hard to not avoid it.
Kurt Cobain's death hit me pretty hard. I was obsessed with his lyrics and Nirvana's music and that was pretty shocking for me--I was a freshman in high school when he died. I cried when Aaliyah died as well. I also recently teared up at Steve Jobs passing and I was also upset by the death of Clarence Clemons-I knew him personally and he was an awesome guy.
I will definitely cry if Regis dies, I love that man!
