Re: UO Thursday
Agreed!! I don't "get" it...
DITTO!
Dangit, guys! I was hoping for some dramatic discussion about the merits of Harry Potter vs. Twilight. Why did ya have to go and agree with me?
And also:
P.S. I teared up just looking at that picture.
I don't like Twilight or Harry Potter.
I have no idea what that ^^^^ represents...
I do know that I stopped reading the Twilight series after the second book..I am pretty sure I skipped over 200 pages of that book because that Bella chick spent 200 pages moping around about that vampire. Gag me.
I think it is supposed to be arrows, or a notion to the above statement.
Sorry, I meant the picture Okla girl posted - I don't know what that is.
Snape was in love with Lily, Harry's mom. That is him holding her when she died. Harry is in the crib.
I should probably save all of my HP love for FFFC or something, but I'll just let the freak flag fly today.
I have this t-shirt. It's in the shape of Harry's scar and has all sort of HP-related things on it.
I would prefer to spend at least one holiday without extended family - either Thanksgiving or Christmas. It was poor planning on my part this year, but I really enjoy the times me and SO are alone and together, than having to get ready to go over to someone else's house for a meal. First of all, I'd rather cook the meal myself and eat what I want to eat. Second of all, we just can't be ourselves like we are at home. And third, I hate traveling long distance all the time for SO's family and given how much we've already seen them this year, I could really skip it. I know they won't be around forever, but it's not like we don't make time for our families during other times of the year.
And I really hate it when you say you're going to bring certain side dishes over for the meal, and your family already has everything under the sun ready for Thanksgiving dinner. Do you really have to cook EVERYTHING? *sigh*
Ha, I thought you were having a blonde moment. I have no idea what that pic is either.
Yes yes YES YES.
Our new dog we're getting... I wanted to name him Weasley because he's a redhead and I'm a nerd. But DH totally nixed that, saying he refused to ever go to a dog park and shout out "Weasley!"
Boys. Refuse to admit they're as big nerds as we are.

Weasley would be such a perfect name for a ginger dog. Would he at least go for Fred?
Same here. Twilight pretty much represents everything I hate, but it was on a few weekends ago and I got sucked in. Make no mistake - some (okay, much) of the dialogue is laughable, but it was entertaining. I'll see the second one eventually.
If we're debating HP vs. Twilight, I'd still vote HP. Haven't read any of the books, though.
I've read all the Twilight and HP series. HP wins hands-down for me, though I don't consider Rowling to be an amazing wordsmith. She just knows how to make a very marketable story!
Meyers was pretty smart, though she's a terrible writer: create an empty shell of a character that any teenage (okay, any age) girl or woman can put themselves into. Create the perfect man who loves her despite her flaws. Bam, instant hit. However, my sister and I have seen every movie, mostly in hopes that they'll do better this time than the last.
My UO: I side-eye any parent who refuses to let their appropriate aged child read Harry Potter ESPECIALLY if the parent has never read the books themselves and just have secondhand information about the "objectionable" stuff.
Gee...I'd really hate to foster creativity and imagination in my kids while they read about loyalty, friendship, kindness, and how awesome learning can be.
okla: I want that shirt. That's awesome.
HP>>>>>Twilight in my eyes.
That's all I have to say, really. I wish I had a UO to share, but I got nothin'.

If you get the "girly" fit, it runs really small. I ordered a large and it is TIGHT. I wear a medium in most shirts.
I was told absolutely no HP names. -.- I think we will likely settle on Ranger--it's the only name so far both of us can agree on that we like.

Ginger, give that pup a strong name like Pete!
I would be all over that, except H is a Longhorn fan, so he would make us call him McCoy. Ick. No. And nice try, Jamie.
