AW / Chat Thursday

Re: AW / Chat Thursday

  • A girl on GP just posted this recipe:

    Mississippi Sin Dip

    Ingredients:

    • 1 loaf french bread
    • 8 oz container french onion dip
    • 8 oz brick of cream cheese, softened
    • 4 oz can of diced green chilis, drained
    • 1 pkg bacon bits ( i usually only use about half the pkg)
    • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

    Instructions:

    1. Cut the top off the french bread and set aside. Hollow out the loaf. (save the bread you scooped out, it's great dipped in the dip!)
    2. Mix all the other ingredients together in a bowl and then pour into the hollowed out loaf. Put the top of the loaf of bread back on.
    3. Wrap in foil and bake at 350 for 1 hour
    4. Serve with crackers and/or the bread you scooped out earlier (you can also eat the bread "bowl" Smile)

This is entirely too caloric for normal consumption but for a T-giving app, it sounds awesome!

  • This is WR but it had us rolling with laughter.

My CW is going to a DW next month (she paid $5K for her and her daughter) and she received an email this morning from the bride going over details about the RD.  "There will be a theme for the rehearsal dinner, yes a theme, and you must dress in black and white and if you have already bought your sleek clothing and it is not in black or white, RETURN it."  Their RD is also on another island and "each guest is responsible for paying their own way to get to the island but we will be paying for your food, of course."  My CW responded that she needed to relax.  That should go over well.

  • About the pictures of the stillborn baby.  I think it is inappropriate to post on facebook, and definitely to make as your picture.  Perfectly fine to place on your blog.  However, if I had a friend do so, I would just ignore/block them if it bothered me and never say anything.  You need to grieve how you need to grieve.

Leslie - that sounds delicious.  You could get pretty creative with the flavors of that too.  Substitute goat cheese instead of cream cheese, add basil or other herbs.  Yum!

Jaymie - Yikes!  They (bride/wedding party) are obviously clueless and wrapped up in themselves.  I'd love to see the reaction to the response your CW said.  However, this seems like a bride that is "all about me" and she probably won't deal with this correctly as with the rest of her wedding planning.

Or maybe I'd just show up in a hot pink outfit to see what the bride would do.  :)

  • I am on cream cheese overload. It seems like every recipe I pin on Pinterest has cream cheese in it.  We were even joking about it at book club--almost everything had cream cheese in it!  Of course, it was all delicious.

Chelsea - I was just looking at your blog and I can not believe how big your kids are getting. I remember when you posted Dot as a gnome and she looked so tiny.

You and me both, sister. Dottie has started speaking in full sentences, and Jack just finished a 6th grade level book. I feel like my world is turning too fast.

Andplusalso, that recipe you just posted sounds like heaven. Yummy tummy.

  • Michelle- I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way.  I've heard about themed parties and such but what is she going to do?  Not allow someone to come?  We joked that CW should tell the bride that her only option at this point is to come in white...as in naked.  And making the guests pay their own way to a different island?  I feel they should pay for that.  If you have valet, doesn't the B&G typically pay for that?  What do I know, I've never had to deal with a DW but CW is tired of these demands among other things that she's talking about not even going anymore.

There is a siggy on one of the other boards on TN and it's her 2 kids with blue jeans, white shirts and red 'gnome hats'.  At the bottom, it says "From our gnome to yours!"

  • Stephie, your sweet potato recipe was a huge hit - I don't think I've ever received so many compliments on a dish!  It was phenomenal.  I have about 1/3 left, and I'm hoping that people take some home, and then I'm going to eat the rest for dinner.

LOL!  Yay, so glad everyone liked it!  Can't wait to have some next week myself.

  • I am so tired this afternoon!

And I so want to go shopping! :-P

  • My AW, kind of sad but it's going to work out for us in the long run I think....

We have decided to not do the DVC at this time.  I discovered that you can buy them from other people and probably get it for a bit cheaper.  However, we're going to wait a bit.

I'm excited though for this weekend:  I'm going to College Station.  I am taking a dear friend (kind of a second mom) and some of her family will be going down too.  My superintendent can't go this weekend and he sold me his tickets (face value for third row in The Zone, Michelle!!!!).

  • Stephie - do you mind emailing me the sweet potato recipe?

  • My AW is that DH and I are going to Winstar tomorrow night, and we wont be back until Sunday. Neither one of us has ever been, so we're super excited to go. :) My MIL and FIL are going too, so we're bound to have some fun.(I hope)

Oh nice! Those are awesome seats!  Know anyone else who wants two tickets?  We will sell for face value and are the first row under the overhang (shade for 1st 1/2 of game), 1st deck, student side, 35yd line. I think we are both a little burnt out of traveling for the games.  And 2 in one week is hard. (NO WAY I'm missing the Texas game)

Have fun!  And sorry about the DVC... bummer.

  • For those of you that wear Avaira Toric and Avaira Sphere contact lenses, there has been a recall.

  • Fun fact about me - if something has cream cheese and bacon in it, I have absolutely zero self control.  I have been eating bacon wrapped cream cheese jalapeno slices all day, and I can't even count how many I've had.  I'm even choosing them over sweets... they're like crack, seriously!

Holy cow, where is the recipe for that??  That's like Ben's perfect food.

OMG I totally wish we could go.  My goal this year was to go to a game and this was the weekend I told my cousin we'd go but then DH started teaching Saturdays and messed up my plans.  I would love to go and be on the student side again.  I miss the games!  Crying

Stephie, you just cut a jalapeno is half and deseed it, fill it with cream cheese, wrap bacon around it and bake it.  I'm not sure on what temp or how long as they just eye it in my family.

  • Stephie - I don't know what recipe her boss used, but Pioneer Woman has one. I once did a lighter version (less bacon and cheese) and threw them on the grill. I bet these would be even more amazingly delicious.

  • Have ya'll ever heard of those "heart attack" appetizers--you see them at Japanese places sometimes.  Ben loves them and gets them every time.  They don't have bacon though.  Ben will totally love these!  Thanks!
