First day of "restricted activity"

So I went for my NST and doppler u/s on Tuesday expecting to hear bad news since last Tuesday the cord blood flow was slightly diminished.  I was very nervous and my blood pressure was 165/91 at the start of the appointment!  I was sure I'd earned myself a trip to triage but they kept checking it throughout the appointment and it came down to my normal 130's/80's.  So my MFM told me I need to stop work and take it easy.  However, my doppler u/s looked great!  The cord blood flow and amniotic fluid looked perfect and the baby was even taking practice breaths.  My doc wasn't even ready to talk about the steroid shots for the baby's lungs yet. He thinks I still have a ways to go.  We are thrilled!  I thought for sure I'd be having this kid before Thanksgiving.  So now to try and take it easy until D-day.  It'll be difficult but I think I can manage.  =)

Re: First day of "restricted activity"

  • Also, since I missed randoms, I just called PF Chang's to try to make a reservation for 2 tonight, which I knew would be a long shot.  Their reservations are booked solid until December 5th!

  • That is really great news about baby! Oh my to practice breaths. So sweet!

Hope you find your "restricted activity"  time to be relaxing.

  • That is fantastic news!!!
  • I am glad baby is doing good!  And big hugs to you, I can imagine how stressed you were.  I had biweekly NST and weekly umbilical dopplers with James.  The anticipation and worry those appointments created were unbelievable.

Try to relax and enjoy your restricted activity as much as possible.  (Probably easier said then done, right?)

  • Congrats on getting to 32 1/2 weeks! That is great that the appointment went so well. GLUTEN with restricted activity. Make sure you lay low and keep cooking that sweetie!

  • GREAT NEWS and enjoy your prescribed relaxation!!!  We're keeping you and baby in our thoughts!
  • Gluten? Is that an autocorrect error, or some magic baby growing secret? ;)

I hope Hudson isn't home with you.  When I was on bedrest (for less than a week, no biggie), I had Willa home with me for one day.  It was hard to restrict activity.  I'm so glad for your news.  Here's hoping for a December - at the earliest - birthday.

I sometime have "white coat hypertension" too.  My bp always go lower at the second check.  Until late in both of my pregnancies (see bedrest above).

    Practice breaths... coo!

  • Sounds like a wonderful appointment! Hooray for more baby growing!

I told my husband that we're not going to even attempt PF Changs until after the New Year.

Tell me about it.  I went through this with Hudson though and was WAY more stressed with him.  Now I know what to expect and I'm just trying to enjoy these last few days/weeks and get as much done as possible while still relaxing.  =)  Thanks for the hugs.

Hudson is going to daycare 3 days a week.  I don't know what I'd do with him home all day.  I'm not on bedrest...yet, but I do want to try and take it easy.  Yes, we are hoping for a December birthday, just not Christmas!
