Boring.

Around here, eh? I am bored. And I am ignoring the fact that I have a crapton of school work to do. Stop being productive members of society and entertain me. What's new?

Re: Boring.

  • Bean has eaten (so far) four bowls of cheerios, a yogurt, a slice of cheese toast, whole wheat crackers, a banana and three sippy cups of milk and juice. I am not looking forward to that later.
  • Luckily, it is the weekend and after 9pm here so no one is expecting me to be a productive member of society right now.  As a matter of fact, you've just inspired me to go change into my pajamas and crack open a beer.

How are you doing?  Have you heard any more about the house?  Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close on it?

Haha! I contemplate doing that every time Bean goes down for a nap. :P

I'm alright. Stressed out, and of course (since I deal with stress so well!) I am ignoring everything. Ha. I haven't heard anything else yet. I know the sellers signed the contract, and I guess we are just waiting for bank approval (it was preapproved, but we offered less and asked for closing costs, so they have to approve that) either way, as long as the inspection goes well we should be in before March. We are moving in with MIL in less than a month, and we're hoping that the closing is later rather than soon so we can save some money for random upgrades we want.

  • I hope the timing works out well so that you can move in and relax.  Though, I'm sure knowing that it will only be for a few month will make it easier to live with your MIL.
  • Thanks! Honestly, I think H is more stressed out about living with MIL than I am. Just received and email with the info for sending the escrow deposit, so... I guess it's real now!

How are things over there? If this photo thing works out, do you think that's something you'd want to dive in to?

  • I want to shoot myself in the leg.

    Carry on.

Wish I could play, but nope, damn the man.  Work kicks my ass yet another day.

Wow, the house thing has happened very quickly for you guys.  That is so awesome.  What kinds of things do you want to remodel or fix with the house?

Things over here are really good.  I've got a really fun job here and I've met lots of really wonderful people.  We also have a really great opportunity to travel here since we're centrally located for many places. I've always wanted to travel, but for various reasons, I just didn't have the means or opportunity to do it before.  It's like we're making up for lost time.  I can't wait to get back to the State in the summer though, because I really miss my family.

If by dive in you mean do I want to take kick-ass pictures, then the answer yes.  But I don't aspire to do it on any kind of professional level or for money.  I just want to have a beautiful record of our travels and my children's childhoods. That and I'd like to be able to look at my pictures someday with pride at seeing how much I've learned about photography.

You took a major promotion not long ago, right?  Is that when work started getting so crazy or is it just a cyclical thing that's a part of the nature of your line of work?

Really, really fast. Like, almost too perfect. I think it's because it's not -really- what I wanted, and life likes to F with me. :P There are minor issues, like the flooring and appliances need to be replaced, painting, replacing counter tops and fixtures throughout the house. Basically fixing minor aesthetic things and making it "ours".

Are you coming back in the summer, or just for a visit? I would love to get in to photography, even if I do everything for free. lol. It's really relaxing.

Well our company is pretty much blowing up.  In a good way.  Everyone is working their a$$ off.  Even without the promotion, I'd be super busy.  But just getting used to my new role/still doing some of the old things + tons of travel is making things difficult.

  • kinda boring here too but I'll take it.  Today is the day I work from home so I love it compared to my other days.  Another hour of work then I can clock off and pick up DS from daycare.

Yeah, I can't imagine driving from Lakeland to Orlando every day. Or to Clearwater every day. F that noise.

Those are the fun kinds of renovations to do because you get to pick stuff that you like instead of staring at the flooring or fixtures for ten years saying to yourself "Who the eff would pick that out?"  I think you should test our your photography skills on making a home reno blog.  I love watching other people make their houses pretty.

We'll be back this summer for a visit.  Probably about three weeks.  I'm super excited because my BFF is having a baby in June and I get to meet him/her when we come back.  After that we'll be back next year for three weeks at Christmas and then back again the following summer for "home leave" before we head off to our next overseas assignment.  It'll be at least 3.5 years at the earliest (and probably longer) before we get a domestic assignment.

That's good that your company is blowing up in a good way instead of imploding.

     ;-)

Do you think things will slow down at some point or is there no end in sight?  Do you think you'll ever seek a position with less travel?  My coordinator travels about 75% of the time and has been doing her job for about ten years and I can't begin to fathom how she does it!

Yikes- that's a crazy commute.  I'm digging my current 5 minute walk to work.

totally jealous.  I told DH the next time we either switch jobs or move I would rather live in a card board box outside one of offices than our current commute.  Hopefully this will only last another 1 year or so.

I know I ask you this fairly regularly, but what does your company do? If I remember correctly, you train people how to use a particular software program? Am I on the right track?

  • I only have a second.  That silly baby has been so needy today!  Just wanted to say that I love Gator bride for using the phrase "f that noise"!
  • It's mine and DH's anniversary today.  He is at work, as usual, and I'm dealing with a child that has diarrhea and a terrible diaper rash AND with a puking dog...  Calgon take me away!  Is it too early for a glass of wine?!?

    Fun times at my house!

Thank you!  It's got to get better!  At least DH will be home in a few hours to help hold down the fort, and we are ordering take-out from one of my favorite restaurants :)

Yes, although now I manage a team of trainers.  You got PM.

  • Southseas- that does sound much better already. What are you getting for take out? I'm dreaming of dinner already.

It's a local steakhouse.  Their food is always better when actually going to the restaurant, but I'll settle for take out.  Taking the twins to restaurants these day is NOT relaxing!  We would go the babysitter route, but we are leaving them with my parents overnight Saturday to have time to ourselves then :)

  • Moon- thanks. That sounds a lot more interesting than what I imagined in my head :)
Southseas- Sounds good. MH often gets take out on nights that I'm teaching. He's very good at ordering something for me that doesn't reheat well. :) Regardless, it's better than nothing when you're hungry & sure beats cooking.

Aww. How are you handling being away for so long? I could stand to be pretty far fro my family and not fret over it too much. That is awesome you're going to be there for your BBF's baby! This year is the first year my BFF (and Bean's namesake) will be together. I plan to make that moment last as long as possible.
