Poll: Top 3 favorite Trader Joe's items

I know it's hard to narrow it down to three, but try! What are your top 3 favorite TJs items right now? I always like to pick up 1 or 2 new things to try when I go there (ok, sometimes it's more like 7 or 8 new things).

Re: Poll: Top 3 favorite Trader Joe's items

  • Oh, excellent post.  I am so uninspired of late, this may help me out.

I am always down for the naked pita chips with sea salt.

They also have some good frozen lamb that my mom has me be a mule for.

I am getting ready to do my holiday baking so I use their macadamia nuts.

    Not so exciting, sorry!

  • Pesto tortallini bowls - great to bring for lunch

Genova Pesto - it's one of the main reasons I got hooked on Trader Joe's

Chicken caesar wrap - again, another great thing to bring for lunch. It's actually enough for two lunches.

  • It's the only place I can find pizza dough (prepared)

    Peppermint jo-jo's

I love their frozen garlic bread, I wish it came it in Sam's club size containers. Especially since I have never successfully made a decent garlic bread.

  • Right now i am totally obsessed with this red sparkling wine - Schloss Biebrich - apparently it is seasonal and it is really, really good. It is not too sweet or fruity. Oh, and $4.99/bottle!

I also LOVE the frozen vegetable panang. Just don't look at the nutrition facts.

and #3 is another seasonal item: the gingerbread men. I could eat a whole box!

  • mine are kind of boring but we don't get to TJ's that often anymore so when we do it's a mad dash to get the stuff we know we need.

Mango chunks (frozen, for the kid)

Black bean and corn enchiladas (frozen)

    DH lurrrrves the blueberry soda

  • My favorites change, but right now I'm into these:

    1. Masala dosas with coconut chutney - in the frozen section. I love masala dosas and it's not easy to find them!

    2. French macarons - these are in the frozen section. The vanilla ones are sooo good. Kind of expensive, but worth it.

    3. Spicy hummus - not too spicy, but just right.

  • Funny, I was just talking about going to TJ's tonight.

    1.  All of their cheese - they always have something different and slightly fancy, and their prices are awesome.

    2.  Kalamata olives - the tall jar.  Can't beat the price, and they are always absolutely delicious.

    3.  Pacific Coast (I think) Roasted Red Pepper Soup - in the box.  Throw some croutons and feta cheese in there... nom nom nom.

I also cannot live without their giant bunch of basil, shelled pistachios or little tiny bite sized gorgonzola crackers.  Oh, and their tapenades.  Any flavor please.

  • mmmm...I've just written down a list of things I must try now!  My favorites are:

1: TJ cake mixes.  I prefer the vanilla--it's not super sweet, almost more "muffiny".  DH likes the chocolate and compares it to those Hostess cupcakes.

2: Roasted, salted almonds.  I know, sounds boring but theirs are so much saltier than I've found elsewhere.

3: English toffee candy.   My thighs hate me for this.

  • 1. frozen haricot vertes. or however you spell it. still has a slight crunch when you warm them up.

    2. garlic naan.  excellent for indian food or as a base for personal pizza.

    3. kennibunkport blueberry ale. not sweet & not overly blueberry-y.  just right!

Also, my favorite holiday item is the peppermint jo-jos.

  • 1. Frozen rice, any variety

    2. Whole wheat cous cous

    3. Pizza dough

We only go to TJ's once every other month or so, but a good chunk of our cart is dedicated to those three things. The account for most of the carbs we eat with our dinners!

    1. Pizza dough (I like the regular and the herb variety; the whole wheat was a little dry for me)
    2. Simmer sauces
    3. Cheeses--triple creme brie, goat brie, the grated parmigiano reggiano
    4. DH would want me to mention the corn chili salsa
    5. Honey sesame sticks
    6. Coconut curry chicken stix
    7. Fiberful bars--they have veggies, fruit, and fiber in them but they're like a fruit roll-up and DS loves them
    8. 100-calorie packs of oatmeal cookies

That's our list of things we always get , supplemented by whatever looks good.

Frozen jasmine rice packets, comes with three pounches

  • 1. Espirale Vino Verde

    2. Their throw in the oven to crisp ciabatta buns (so good!)

    3. Orange Chicken (frozen)- just throw in the oven for a quick dinner

    4. Basmati and Jasmine Rice (I had to add 4 because these are SO much cheaper at TJ than anywhere else)

Bloom's WW pizza dough is the best out there.  Safeway just started carrying it at all of their stores, it's not bad..  Giant is hit or miss, but my local one always has it.

  • 1. Cereal--I got 2 kinds last time I went there and DH and I both loved both of them.

    2. Spiced apple cider

    3. Cheese--they have sooo many kinds, including my favorite, extra sharp NY cheddar

  • 1. Reduced sodium creamy tomato soup. Soup and grilled cheese sammies (on sourdough) is my favorite comfort food!

    2. Boring, but I like their Israeli couscous.

    3. They have these little chocolate-coated ice cream bites that are so yummy.

I only go once every 3 or so months though. The parking lot at the Fairfax location killlllls meeeeeee.

  • Thanks for all of the new ideas!

I typcially only go to TJ's when I need/want cheese, but while there I currently buy:

    1.  Orange chicken

    2. Roasted red pepper and tomato soup

    3. Jalapeno stuffed olives

  • We always get several kinds of the chicken sausages.  Love them for quick weeknight meals.

I love the whole wheat couscous, can't find it that cheap anywhere else (even wegmans!)

Last time (we're at least 30 minutes from one) we took a cooler and got some frozen things.  We picked up the frozen roasted corn, and just had it tonight.  Super delicious.

    DH added his ...

    Wine

Their vintage ale, out at the holiday times.

Eggnog cookies, also at the holidays.  Normal times of the year he says the cinnamon schoolhouse cookies.

  • We're like 2 hours from one now! :-( But, we've been twice, once to the one in Eugene and DH went once when he went down to CA for a meeting.

We're getting one in our town next year, though. I can not be more excited.

    I love:

    1. Wheat Crisp crackers

    2. Whole grain instant oatmeal w/ cranberries

    3. Jo-Jo's (not a very creative answer)

My boss went to the one in CA a few weeks ago and brought back these yummy peanut-butter filled pretzels.

We don't trust a cooler that far, so I miss the pesto pasta bowls, the reduced-guilt mac & cheese, and the chicken sausages.

  • Lots of great things already mentioned. We also love

    Thai lime & chili cashews

    Granola and the three berries

    Original hummus

    The holiday truffles (mmmmmm)

You can also go up to the pizza counter and ask them for dough.  Whenever I go to Whole Foods it is so I can get the pizza dough!
