Knitters: need pattern ideas!

I just got 2 skeins of merino wool in a discontinued colorway. Here's what it looks like:

I have 460 yards to work with. Any favorite patterns you want to share?

  • For you or LO?

Maybe the Elizabeth Zimmerman Baby Surprise cardigan?  I have always wanted to knit that and it looks so cute with variegated yarn.

  • Doesn't matter who it's for.

I've always wanted to do that jacket too. Maybe this will be my chance :)

  • With 460 yards you're kind of limited to smaller stuff anyway. I am just about done with a pair of mittens and those have been really fun and quick.  You could also do a matching hat and mittens?  Or scarf... but scarves get so tedious.

GAH - all I want to do right now is go home and knit!!! :)

  • These socks are pretty cool for variegated yarn.

LOL! I bought the yarn for that this spring...it's going to be sort of a blue/aqua color with a bright green for the waist. Both with some white variegated in there :)

  • great minds :)  Man, am I glad Sam is a boy.  there are so few cute boy patterns out there that my temptation to add to my already ridiculously huge stash is mitigated!

I've found plenty of cute patterns for boys! I'm currently finishing this one up for my nephew! I'm making it a green and variegated white stripe with an argyle pattern in the middle of the romper. I'm also making it long sleeves/pants for winter. Now if only he'd stop growing so fast! He's two months old but currently wearing 3-6 months. I started it when he was born and went with a 6 month size since I'm making it as a Christmas gift.

I was going to suggest that same pattern but was on my phone at the time so I couldn't post it :)  I made it last year and it's super easy and cute.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball
