It is always sad when a marriage ends, but I'm not surprised.

While it was particularly tacky of Ashton to have a one night stand on their anniversary, they have repeatedly spoken about having an open marriage, so it probably isn't something totally unexpected.  There must have been a lot more wrong, and probably for some time.

I liked them better as a couple than I do either of them separately.

I always thought they made a weird couple. She seems so classy and he seems so immature. I am not surprised by any Hollywood divorce and this was no exception.

yeah, there's been a lot of speculation about it. I don't know definitively, obviously. But if that were the case, it would definitely make sense for them to split now.

Not surprising at all. That said, I kind of love Demi for not giving the typical BS hollywood statement of, 'I love Ashton and we'll always be best friends.'

I agree with this. I think it was great of her to say that she is leaving him because she holds certain vows and values sacred. At least someone in Hollywood is trying to have a little respect for themselves.

I don't know if she did though, if the rumours about an open marriage are true.

Although I do find her to be a phenomenally talented and classy lady.

I don't know if I'd call her classy, considering how she and Bruce were when they were with each other and then how she carried on with Ashton and possibly Bruce, and then had an open marriage with Ashton and however many, many people were involved in there. She is more mature than him, which hopefully is a given, but she has always been super weird. I think she's been out of the tabloids so long that people have forgotten but, back in my day *gets out my walker*, she was always in them for something crazy. If you don't really want an open marriage, don't say you do, because they'll obviously take it literally. Like he's going to rationalize "I can have sex with other women EXCEPT on our anniversary"? Not likely.

Hmm, I thought it was Will and Jada who had the open marriage? I had never heard of Ashton and Demi having one.

I also have heard all along that it was Claudia Schiffer's husband who is the father of JJ's baby.

I'm surprised Demi and Ashton's marriage lasted this long.  As far as who is classier, I'm not really sure.  I've never understood how their marriage worked...

I would not call Demi classy-especially some of the tweets she was putting out of herself. She seems very desperate.  I never understood her and Ashton as a couple and I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

I doubt this divorce is a surprise to anyone at all.

I never understood their relationship. And I also tend doubt that open marriages actually work (although I have no experience to base that opinion on).
