has anyone ever tried Maggie's Soap nuts?

I saw Maggie's Soap Nuts at a local store the other day and was wondering if anyone had tried them...not going to lie, the idea of using nuts to wash my clothes is kind of cute to me :). However, not necessarily a reason to purchase....has anyone else tried this?

  • I haven't.  Back when this board was new and active, there were lots of people who raved about them, though.

  • Not that brand, but I'm using soap nuts to wash cloth diapers.

If they can do that (they can!), I would expect no problems with normal laundry. They do work best with hot water, though. If you want to wash on cold, you can make a "tea" to use in place of putting them directly in the wash.

ETA: I don't know about the particular brands; i was referring to soap nuts generally.
