DH works for a production company and they have been informed the show they work on will not be picked up beyond the spring. we have known this for a month or so already and he has started looking for jobs/sending out tons of resumes online etc. no one is biting and we are both starting to get nervous thinking about the worst case scenario. i know the job market sucks and so many people are probably biting at those same jobs hubby is jumping at too. each day that goes by my anxiety level increases thinking about him not finding a job.
a few years ago i knew some people who used agencies when they moved to the city. does anyone have any experiences with these? are they worth going through? do they cost anything to the job seeker?
any help!
Re: staffing/temp agencies
I found my current job through a staffing agency. It was a direct hire. It should not cost you anything, and they really are worth it. It really can help out in the short term as well as finding a long term placement.
Here are a few places to try:

I used Mack Ltd (www.mackltd.com) a few months ago when I was relocating from MI to Chicago. They were incredibly helpful and really great to work with. I especially appreciated that they understood that I was job hunting from 4 hours away and that getting to Chicago wasn't easy when I was still working full time in MI. They would schedule my interviews around when I was going to already be in town (usually about once a week) and also arranged for phone interviews when possible.
Also, just so you know, any legit employer service gets paid by the companies who are looking for employees. If your H encounters a company that requires HIM to pay for their services, chances are good that you are dealing with a scam.
Good Luck!
