Success making cricut template?

I have this idea in my head and was wondering if anyone here has tried it and had success.  I have the Cricut Design Studio software but I don't always find it so great to use!

I am designing some circle signs and I don't have a large circle cutter.  I was hoping I could make a circle cutting template in my design studio, feed the printed designs in and make it work.  Anyone try something like this?  I can do exact measurements in my design software but not so trusting on the design studio.

Maybe I'll just buy a large circle cutter!! Well, just curious if anyone has tried this!

Re: Success making cricut template?

  • What do you mean by circle signs?  Can you show an example of what you are trying to make?  I have two very different ideas in my head, specifically because of the printing question...

  • You have something you want to cut, that is already printed, correct? (You need to cut a circle around the printed object.)

If this is what you mean, there are ways to do it.

    1. For  me, in design studio, it's pretty accurate. Place the paper in the same spot on the paper as is on the screen.

Or, 2. you can use the tape method. It's hard to explain, but there are videos of it on youtube.

  • I'll take a look on youtube, thank you!  I think I will just sit down and try it out.

I am going to print a design that is contained within the shape of a circle and I want to make sure they are cut out of the cardstock in clean circles rather than me trying to do them all by hand.

It's good to hear the design studio was accurate for you.  I'm willing to give it a try!
