White Christmas Tree?

After 10 years, it is time for a new Christmas tree. I am contemplating a white one. What are your thoughts? Are they still "in"?

Re: White Christmas Tree?

  • If you add enough ornaments I think they can look really nice. I saw one at the store the other day that was all white and was draped with blue ribbon and had ornaments on it that were in various shades of blue. It was really pretty.

  • I don;t like the look of a white tree personally. To me a tree is green not white.

  • I am not a fan of the white trees either.

  • I have a small white tree, but it's in addition to my regular tree.  I wouldn't want the white tree to be my only tree.  But I do like the look and if it works for you and the rest of your home decor, I say go for it.
  • I think white trees can look very high end and "decorator-done"  Go for it with pizazz and gusto, bright colors will shine & give you a very modern Christmas look!  Trees come in all shapes & sizes these days so plan to expand your horizons and have some Christmas fun!
  • I agree that I wouldn't want it for my only tree but I love having it is an extra tree. Last year I made all girly with pink, purple, green, and blue jewel tones. This year I'm doing silver and gold on it.
  • I like the white, but if you want the green but like white you can always do a green tree with all the ornaments and lights white. My grandparents alternate every year and do one year colorful and one year white and it is actually really pretty :-)

  • First, I just have to say, who cares if it's in?  If you like it then get it, if you don't then pick something else out.

Second, I personally prefer a green tree.  I always think the white trees are pretty in stores but I want MY tree to be green.

I did think THIS looked like a fun additional tree though.

OMG- I loved the snowman tree! How whimsical and fun! Love it for a kids playroom!

  • we have a white tree in addition to our two green trees. while i love it, i will caution that white trees tend to yellow after a few years, so don't expect it to last more than 5 or 6 years.
  • It depends. I personally wouldn't do it for my main tree but I've seen one that was very pretty:

and then since my decorating theme revolves around snow - I LOVE this:

  • My family used to have a white Christmas tree. It was the only tree my great aunt and uncle had in the 70s and then my parents had it in the early to mid 80s as their only tree. Later it became a secondary three at my great-grandmothers and later at my parents again until it was shedding too much maybe in 2005. so it lasted like 30 years and this one never turned yellow. I think if your going fake anyway why not yellow?

  • DH and I went to Disney World for Christmas maybe two years ago and the hotel we stayed at had the most beautiful 70 ish foot white tree. Just like what other posts said, they can be amazing and really high-end looking. I was completely against white Christmas trees until I saw that one. I'm sold on the idea now. Happy tree shopping!
