Good morning! I hope everyone had a nice weekend.
I now have a new work space and for the time being at least, there is pretty much no privacy, so I'll be limiting my nesting time. I should have somewhat more privacy in about a week or so.
But since I won't be on much today, I wanted to get the randoms started and say good morning!
Re: Monday randoms
Morning...I was wondering how the move went.
I have this week off....yay! Although I only have two days with out the girls, so I need bust butt and get some stuff done. I'm going to try to hurry up and clean the house this morning, so I can relax and watch Mad Men.
Why is that when you have the day off, eight hours goes so quickly. It doesn't seem like all that long.
Good Morning.
I woke up at 3am today and wasn't able to fall back asleep at all. Maybe I'll get a nap in here shortly before DH wakes up.
This weekend was a little ruff. We saw some friends this weekend and the wife once again launched into how DH & I should have a kid. For the love of me can not get it through her head that we are not in the position to have a kid. She just doesn't get it. If we have a kid we would like to be responsible by having a house and income and not be scraping by day by day. Just b/c they do it that way doesn't mean we want to. Grr
On a happier note I did purchase a little something from the PartyLite party I was at yesterday. I also have my meal plan for the week.
Has anyone checked out the forecast for the week. They are calling for 50-60's by the end of the week.
What? Here?! My weather.com only goes up to 53* and that's on Friday.
My Clean Eating Blog
Green Living Reading List
Seriously, that would irritate me to no end. Especially because we are not able to have children but DH doesn't want me broadcasting it to everybody so I've had to just start saying 'well, you know, not everyone who wants children is able to have them." Or I say "well, we've been thinking about looking into fostering." Which is true, although probably not likely very soon. Usually that shuts them up. Here's a fun website if you get that a lot: http://www.happilychildfree.com/bingo.htm
I'm so excited, I have my first pickup tomorrow at the West Michigan Co-op. And then a West Michigan blogger holiday party at Amore. Should be an awesome evening.
TV 8 is showing 60 on Friday and low 50's on Thanksgiving.
Awesome site. Thanks.
Have fun Tonight.
I hope that weather is similar for the Detroit area. Unless it's raining (or one of us is really sick), we're going to the parade Th. morning.
Deeder, can you tell your friend that a baby isn't in the plans for a while and it's not really a topic you want to discuss every time you see her? Sometimes people need a little firmness because they really don't understand how what they intend as encouragement can be hurtful.
We went to Schuler's yesterday for a little concert for kids. It was so much fun; the songs were all about nature and the environment and there were costumes and a lot of dancing. Fun stuff.
I'm really over being sick. Really. I'm really, really over Brielle being sick.
On the topic of Brielle - She has become a BRAT! I keep chalking it up to she doesn't feel good but I have a feeling the terrible 3's have hit. She is so mouthy & strong willed! This too shall pass......I hope!
I hope health comes to the Na house soon. We're still clearing out illness here. And when we're all sick in the house, behavior changes too. They don't feel good, so they make choices I wish they wouldn't. And I don't feel good, so my patience is thin. Feel better!
My car tire found a nail. I'm taking it to Belle Tire in a bit. Boring.
I need to take tomorrow off and I haven't notified my department that I'm doing that. Primarily because the rest of them are really busy and are going to be irritated by my spontaneous day off (and I had another day off a couple weeks ago). so, I keep going between working a half day (which would mean I'd have to come in at 5am or working from home (which I really don't want to do because I won't focus like I do at work). Why do I make this so hard on myself?
Hi, again!
GVSU, the move went good, overall. It's just weird settling in and trying to find everything and everyone.
Deeder, sorry to hear that your friend isn't being understanding. That's the worst!
Hope everyone in your house feels better soon, MissyNa!
Day 1 back to work is going well. No tears. I think I was more sad that Sbux didn't have Christmas blend this morning.
I made a special trip there as my "cup of happy", and they didn't have what I wanted. Boo!
There were a LOT of changes at work while I was gone. It's like starting a new job all over!
Hey! I was thinking about you. I'm glad you checked in and things are going well.
Glad that things are going well so far for you.
We saw that in the theatre and bought it - I love it!
Yay for a good 1st day back.
I still haven't seen Bridesmaids yet I should probably add it to our netflix list.
The library is holding Water for Elephants on DVD for me right now I think I'll pick it up for this weekend. I have 3 other items "in transit" so I'm hoping that I'll only have to make one trip out of it.
Mortgage refi update (because I told you I'd keep you posted):
As you'll recall, the appraisal came back 9% below where we needed it. We asked them to reassess it because we felt there were some errors. They subsequently bumped it up slightly so that now it's 7% below where we need it.
Not as good as I had hoped.
As I'm clueless about refi's, with it below 7% below does this mean you won't be able to refi at all?
It's so frustrating how difficult the re-fi process is right now. It's like adding insult to injury--not only have we lost property value through no fault of our own, we also can't take advantage of lower interest rates. It sucks.
We have some different options, although none of them are great. One option is to pay the difference in cash from our savings. Another option is to refinance our primary only, although this would be a higher rate. Another option is to walk away and be out a $300 appraisal fee.
Right now, we're debating between the second and third option.
It's a good thing I'm feeling somewhat zen and centered today.
I called Bell Tire to ask about their wait this morning. Guy told me I'd be in and out in 40 minutes. I told him I'd be right over. I was. Then I got to wait for 2 hours in the waiting room with a 3 year old. When I went to check, they hadn't even gotten my car in, but I was next. Five minutes later, I was told that my tire wasn't repairable because the screw was too close to the edge. Awesome. Let's put the spare on and I'll drive it home, and assess finances (buy 1 tire? because they're getting worn, all new?).
Except the spare also has a screw in it (what? I had no idea).
Oh, GRSP. What a crummy way to spend your morning. I'm sorry.
Not that it helps now, but consider Discount Tire in the future. They're usually awesome to work with.
How frustrating. I like Discount Tire as well, however, I have encountered the incorrect estimate of wait time there. L was there today and it took an hour for him to get a tire rotation.
And if you haven't decided on the tire purchase yet, I highly recommend asking around for prices. We ended up buying our last tires from our regular service provider because they were having a sale and we saved $200 from what we would have paid at Discount for comparable tires.
You'll probably feel like that until after Thanksgiving. Getting back is hard, and you, your family, and even your co-workers have some readjusting to do.
