What are some good series to lock yourself up with?
I've been told I'll like Arrested Development but not Lost....I'm looking for something DH and I can chill to and watch episode after episode on a comfy cozy at home weekend.
Re: What are some good series to lock yourself up with?
If you haven't watched 24, it's addicting!
What are your favorite shows? I'm guessing comedies but not suspense/drama if people think you won't like Lost? Here are some of the comedies we caught up on on DVD:
How I Met Your Mother
Big Bang Theory
Modern Family
NewsRadio
Yeah, the comedy part is dead on, but I also don't like shows that depict things that could never happen....so, I like Dexter, but not 24, cause in my little mind, Dexter could totally happen.
The Wire
I second 24!
My DH and I recently started watching Big Bang Theory and thoroughly enjoy it!
Just curious, why not Lost? DH hates most television shows, but that's one he actually really enjoyed. I bought him the whole series last year for Christmas and we've been watching an episode a week, we love it.
Anyhoo, I agree with Big Bang and HIMYM. I've recently gotten into Once Upon a Time, I think there's only been 3 episodes so far. We like Hawaii 5-0 as well.
I always really liked Frazier, if you're looking for older shows.
Okay, gotcha! Yeah, there's a definitel super natural thing going on with Lost.
A lot of the HBO/Showtime shows - Californication, Nurse Jackie, Weeds. There are others that I'm blanking on (I'm thinking more along the lines of comedies).
Dexter, while dark, is also funny!
LOST - I gotta tell you... the end really disappointed me, so I don't know that I would recommend it.
OH- Shameless! Forget if it was Showtime or HBO, but wow - that was a show. It's only 1 season in, so far.

Hawaii 5-0, True Blood, Criminal Minds.
Comedy? Big Bang, definitely.
*Live, Love, Laugh, Learn*
Travel Adventures.
Ditto all of these except based on your previous comment you may not like True Blood.
Friday Night Lights, Southland, Justified, Modern Family, Parks and Rec, The Office, HIMYM.
We just watched the 1st 3 seasons of Breaking Bad in like a month and a half. It was AMAZING. It's rare for a show to get a raving review from both DH and myself, but this one did.
ETA The next one I plan to start and get caught up on once the weather gets bad is Sons of Anarchy. I've heard nothing but good things about it.
The Wire, Sopranos, Friday Night Lights, Prison Break, The Tudors
For spy/action Alias, 24, and Prison Break.
For Comedy def Big Bang, How I Met Your Mother, Friends (cliche, I know) & my H really loves Scrubs.
Dramas- My H loves NCIS and I've gotten hooked too, Game of Thrones (Even though its just a few episodes it's amazing) 6 Feet Under, Friday Night Lights
For like magic/supernatural shows if you're into those- True Blood, Supernatural (this is a great show), Buffy, Angel, & i really liked Ghost Whisperer, but I doubt your H will want to do a marathon of that.

There are some good (and not so good lol) recs here
Judging by the fact that you guys want to watch it and spend some quality time together, I'm going to leave out the sort of depressing fare. So while The Wire is "one of the best shows ever in the history of the modern age" it is depressing and bleak as hell. Breaking Bad is kind of bleak too, but I'd still put it on the list. lol I've also chosen shows that both men and women report liking
Feel-good:
Friday Night Lights
Comedy:
Eastbound and Down
Modern Family
Gritty:
The Shield
Southland
Breaking Bad
Sci-Fi/Fantasy:
Battlestar
Game of Thrones (is this out yet?)
Supernatural
If you are looking for great shows that lasted only 1 season (so it would be a short watch for you) I'd rec. Freaks and Geeks and The Black Donnelly's.
for drama I like:Bones, House and The West Wing. For comedy I would say Will&Grace ,How I met YOur Mother and The Big Bang Theory.
