Does anyone else feel let down with the Black Friday thing? So many stores are starting the deals earlier, like on Thanksgiving, that it doesn't even seem like Black Friday anymore. I mean, people that really want the door buster deals are going to feel compelled to go at the earliest time available, so all of that stuff will probably be gone by Friday. Plus, every store that has Black Friday deals has been advertising Black Friday deals earlier in the week. I mean, really?! AND, I haven't found any really great deals for Friday (unless you are the market for a new tv, which I'm not). I realize that all the retailers are trying to make their big money for the year, but I find it all discouraging.
This weekend, FI and I bought all of the Christmas presents for his six (total) nieces and nephews. When I told my mom, she was like "Why didn't you wait for Black Friday?" Well, because nothing we were buying was really on sale on Black Friday, and the two things that were were only $3 or 4 cheaper...AND I would have had to be a Walmart at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Um, no thanks.
Re: Black Friday...errr Thursday, or Wednesday...
I find myself disappointed too. I hate that some of the stores are coming out with deals earlier. And I hate that there doesnt seem to be any really good deals to begin with. Ive noticed a lot of places have mail-in rebates this year...whats up with that?
Granted we will still be going out shopping. Though we never really went out like crazy people trying to get deals. Its essentially just a "special" shopping trip for us that we really enjoy. I refuse to go to any store and stand in lines waiting for sales to start.
I'll be honest, I'd rather spend more money and get my shopping done early. I hate crowds and lines and shopping in general, as well as getting up early, so Black Friday sounds like torture to me.
I am normally done shopping by Thanksgiving. I'm actually behind this year and I only have a few more gifts to get.
I haven't been a really big Black Friday shopper myself. I feel like most of the deals that I could get I could possibly get them online. It's tough this year because H and I don't really know what we are getting each other, or anyone else for that matter. H and MIL will go shopping on Friday because that is their tradition, but if I am going to go shop for gifts, I like to do it alone.
I know H wants a new 50" tv, and they are having huge sales on them, I just cannot justify spending that kind of money when we have two perfectly working TVs right now.
This is how I feel too. No deal in the world is good enough to make me deal with the crowds and insanity. You literally couldn't pay me to do it...
I'm not a Black Friday person. Pretty soon stroes will be open as normal on Thanksgiving the way things are going.
I'll do my shopping during the week when everyone goes back to work next week.
