Teeth brushing time is a HUGE struggle in our house. We are working on developing a better rhythm for this, so I'm looking for any input. As of right now, we have to force the toothbrush in her mouth and brush her teeth for her while she screams. Yeah, it sucks. If we give her the brush and encourage her to brush on her own, she will throw a huge tantrum. UGH.
HELP ME.

Re: BWLO: Brushing Teeth
Sometimes it's a fight for Taryn to let me brush her teeth but she's getting better with that and has no problem brushing them herself.
Maybe make a big deal about it, in a fun way. Take her to the store and let her pick out a toothbrush and maybe a kids toothpaste?
Try rewarding her when she brushes? We have a potty chart for Taryn...if she fills up the row (one for each day) with stickers, she gets a treat at the end of the day (a couple of M&Ms as her dessert after dinner or staying up 15 minutes later) or if she fills up the whole week we treat her to something like a movie (just did this by taking her to see Puss in Boots). Maybe something similar would work with Neena?
I also saw someone make a game of it like they were using the toothbrush to look for monsters in the mouth or something. It would "beep" every time they got close, which made the kid laugh and open up, etc.
Knock on wood, N is really good about it most nights. I just explain to him "mommy's turn first, then you get a turn!" and it seems to work. Good luck!

This anti-teeth brushing is a recent phenomenon! I hope Nolan continues to be a good little teeth brusher. :-)

Probably another one of those "phases." They're all so much fun!

We've tried the "there's a _______ in your mouth" ... that worked for a while.
We've gotten him a SpongeBob Toothbrush and paste, and we've said, "we have to feed spongebob" ... that worked for a while.
We let him hold it and brush for himsefl (all though brushing doesn't really happen).
Lately, I've found that he lets me brush his teeth if I let him brush my teeth. So he stands on the sink holding my toothbrush, brushing my teeth, while I stand there brushing his.
Gotta do what works in the moment.
