Recommendations for North Metro Spa? (facial & massage)

My skin is doing some weird stuff lately.  My confession is that I've never had a facial before and have no clue what to look for.  Any recommendations in the North Metro?

DH is having some issues with his running and the trainer suggested that he get a massage to see if the muscles will loosen up after his runs.  He's never had a massage before and is a little leary of the whole thing (he's a guy's guy).  Any recommendations in the North Metro?

Re: Recommendations for North Metro Spa? (facial & massage)

  • No one specific to recommend for either service as it's been a few years since I've been there as we moved out of the area but I always had great service in both areas at Simonson's in Anoka (Andover).
  • If you can tolerate the drive, I'd recommend the Aveda Institute. I went there awhile back for a facial and they gave me excellent skincare advice and I have never had problems since. The student told me that they are trained on the biology of the skin, not just products.

The other good thing about the Aveda Institute is that the prices are awesome!

  • Rocco's has a nice signature facial. They are all over, but have a spa in the outside area of Rosedale. They do extractions with a signature facial which mean the extract black heads and white heads. Some people hate that, but I think it isbpart of a good facial. I do look like I was squeezing zits for a day or so after, but then they are gone for a long time. Extractions or not, most of their facials use an electric zapper thing (sorry, I am sure someone can fill you in on what it's called) that is supposed to kill bacteria on the skin before it causes problems. They gave away $10 off coupons at the mall today, they might give you the same deal if you are new and booking a service, they are spendy so coupons would be nice.
