I've been to this before and it's spectacular! C&P e-mail below. Great for a family adventure! I've seen Octopus before...as well as lobsters, anemones, sea stars, sea cucumbers and the like!
Greetings Everybody
Heads up, the last West Coast negative tide day of 2011 is coming to Half Moon Bay on Saturday November 26, 2011 3pm-5pm. Come on down and join us!
The weather people are calling for mostly clear skies, so this?ll be the perfect opportunity to check out the last major tidepooling opportunity of 2011!
This unusual negative tide only comes along about 2 or 3 times / year on weekends during daylight hours. So like in the last few years, a bunch of us are heading down to Half Moon Bay, California, to watch the tide flush out, then walk the amazing tidepools. We can get about half mile out to sea on these negative tide days, and for about 2 or 3 hours we get to see astonishing sea life that is usually 8+/- feet underwater.
This is a not-to-miss adventure, especially if you have kids who are captivated by the critters.
Visit this website for more info (including a LOT of pictures). RSVP online if you are even mildly interested and we'll send more info as the event approaches:

If you RSVP online, we will send more info as the event approaches. Weather reports look good so far, but if things change for the worst, rain doesn?t cancel. Just be prepared for a variety of weather, bring an umbrella and sturdy shoes, and join us no matter what the skies are doing?
Disclaimer: this is NOT a guided tour nor is it an organized event. This is just an announcement of an unusual event at a public beach in a state park. Admission to the state park is totally free, but you are on your own and nobody takes responsibility if you slip on the kelp and break yourself. So wear sturdy shoes and be careful.
Also, don't risk a jail sentence by illegally poaching anything from the reef.
And of course, walk only on dry barren rock, and don't step on the myriad of critters and kelp on the reef. Like they say, please take only pictures, try to not even leave footsteps....
Spread the word. The more the merrier!
Hope to see you there
