Moisturizing natural soap?

So our grocery store ran out of my beloved Dr. Bronner's soap in lavender, so DH bought a bar of Dove to tide us over.  Of course, he loves it!  He keeps going on and on about the lather, and how it has fixed his dry, itchy skin.  I don't want to keep buying it!  It's full of petrochemicals and parabens, and is tested on animals.

Do you have any recommendations for a moisturizing natural soap?  Going back to Dr. B's and asking DH to use a separate moisturizer is a no-go.  TIA!

  • I would find a locally made goat-milk soap.

  • I love the soap I've bought from Etsy.

  • I like Nubian Heritage. There are lots of ingredient combos, but all are made with Shea butter.
I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns

  • Have you tried a bar of Kirk's castile soap?  Dr. Bronner's is too drying for my skin, but I still liked the no-animal-testing and wanted to stay with a castile, we tried it, and now it's in our shower, on the soap dish at the sink, and by the kitchen sink.  Lathers like Dr. Bronners, but not as drying.
  • if he still insists on Dove....the Sensitive Skin one is still rated fairly low on the EWG ratings.....I still keep it on hand.

Kirks Castille is pretty good.  And I think Shea butter soaps are nice.

Did you use the Dr. B's liquid?  You could try adding a couple drops of jojoba oil to help moisturize more.

Unfortunately they test on animals, so still not an option for OP.

  • Giovanni bar soaps (I would get him the grapefruit, but the cucumber melon smells wonderful though a tad feminine and very spring like).  All natural.
