XP: Thanksgiving decorations

-->

I realized I really don't have, and don't want, many Thanksgiving decorations.  I have a fall wreath on the front porch, a stuffed fabric pumpkin, and 2 cornocopias (sp).  I also have placemats and table cloth.  That's all.

Do you use a table centerpiece?

What decorations do you have out?

Re: XP: Thanksgiving decorations

  • I don't differentiate Halloween and Thanksgiving by going with generic fall decor: warm spicy striped doormats, pumpkins/gourds, chrysanthemums for October & November.

     I do use a centerpiece at Thanksgiving -- I have a long boat-shaped wooden dish that I fill with clove-studded oranges, star anise, and candles of differing heights. I don't use any other decorations for fall other than seasonal flowers & branches; I shy away from smiling turkeys and "Give Thanks" kitsch.

  • I put up general fall decorations before Halloween so for Thanksgiving I just took down the tissue ghosts and put up my pilgrim candles.  On the table is a collection of little pumpkins and gourds.
    .
  • Most of my "decorations" are crafts that my kids have made in school over the years.

    I do have Thanksgiving hand towels, and a garden flag with a turkey.

  • I have little figurines on my coffee table that spell out Thanks. THen I have 2 5-6 inch scarecrows on one of my end tables. On my dining room table, I have a gold tablecloth, fall placemats, and a fall floral arrangement as the centerpiece. I have a few other things throughout the house.

  • I think Christmas/Yule is the only time I really decorate for a holiday. I have 4-5 different seasonal wreathes for the front door (spring flower, 4th of July, autumn, Yule, winter), but I don't decorate inside any time but for Christmas with a tree, and fireplace stockings etc.

    if I didn't have guests I would be ok with that, too. I just feel like I need to have a little something in the house to say "tis the season", whatever the holiday is at the time. Can you post a pic of your winter ( not Christmas ) wreath? I need one too but don't have a clue what to use. Thanks
