another Closing Costs question
When buying a house, I know there are "closing costs"
But how much in other expenses are we expected to pay at closing?
Re: another Closing Costs question
It'll vary, but things that are rolled into closing costs that aren't directly related to the loan include (but aren't limited to)
Property taxes
HOA fees
Transfer taxes/fees
homeowners insurance
any court filing fees for the paperwork
I feel like there was more, you should be able to get an estimate from your REA for the fees/taxes/etc that are common in your area.
One expense too that is separate but that we did at closing was to change all of the locks. It can add up quickly when your house has a lot of doors and you want them all re-keyed to be the same.
It really depends upon your loan, what and who needs to be paid and what you've negotiated. You could bring nothing to the closing or several thousand, your bank or attorney should be able to list the items to be paid, or you'll see them on the HUD at closing. To me, the item that's always forgotten about is the initial escrow deposit if you're escrowing taxes or insurance.
