New Restaurant Review - Oloroso (King Wm. District)

Went out last night to celebrate our anniversary to a place my husband heard about from a coworker - Oloroso (on S. Alamo).  They've only been open since August.

www.oloroso.biz

I was wonderful!  I'd say its a step below truly fine dining - avg. entree 25 - 30 pp, which was quite reasonable given the level of food & service.  Its small and intimate - a great date place.  The chef has worked as souz chef under an army of famous chefs - most recently Tom Collichio of Top Chef fame.  We met him when he brought out our quite tasty cheese plate last night.

Anyways, I just wanted to pass along the rec. I'm always on the lookout for small, upscale restaurants and thought this place held its own among the best SA has to offer.  It was only about half full last night, so I gather that the word hasn't gotten out yet, but we'll definitely be going back.

  • It looks terrific - thanks for the rec!
  • OH! I sooo want to try this place! When we were down there for the 4 of July 1st friday (try that tongue twister!) there was a really nice woman who came out and talked to us. She said they were going to open a restaurant and talked about that chef. The building looked no way like it was ready to be a restaurant (we're talking broken windows ect. folks) but I was excited for it! As a matter of fact, I had thought about trying it out last night too, but we didn't. Oh well! I can't wait to try it!!! :) If I remember correctly, it's Mediteranian food, isn't it? Or some sort of Med-fusion as the lady who I talked to was saying! :)
  • mmmm...looks good, we will have to try it when we get there
  • I saw that place a few months ago.  Can't wait to try!
