OK! I have an interview on Tuesday. I am totally excited. I graduated in 2009 and have been a substitute since then. I have had a couple of interviews here and there and they have chalked it up to no experience. I want this interview to be different. My FIL is a big shot at a company and sat down with me today to go over some questions that they normally ask at interviews. My only issue is this interview is for teaching not corporate so I don't think we got all the questions that I should be working on. I just wanted to know if there were any of you out there who had advice for this interview, or knew some questions that interviewers ask that I can think about.
I know everyone says this but me and the DH really need me to get this job. Subbing is not paying the bills. I also need this for my sanity! I have been trying to get a job for 2 years. ugh!
Re: Interview.. Please Help!
Have sample lesson plans on hand, and be prepared to talk about differentiated instruction, working with English language learners, and how you will interact with parents. Also, research the school and district to death. What are their test scores like, how can you bring value-added to their faculty/students, etc...
Good luck!

These two I have already hit. Thank you so much for your advice!
Thank you! I hope you get your break too!
I still have the list of the the 12 questions I was asked at the interview for the position I got this year (I teach HS).
I was first asked to tell a little about my background and why I wanted to work at this school.
1. What area(s) of (subject) do you feel you have strength and a desire to teach and what pedagogy do you feel is the most effective in this area(s)?
2. How do you get to know your students, and how does this information impact your instructional planning?
3.Explain in detail the process you use in the development and implementation of a lesson.
4. Describe in detail how you develop a culture for learning in your classroom.
5. Describe your classroom management and student behavior procedures.
6. Discuss high level instructional questioning and discussion techniques that you have utilized in your instruction.
7. Describe in detail how you engage your students in learning.
8. Describe how you provide feedback to your students.
9. Describe how you reflect on a lesson.
10. How do you involve families in your instructional program?
11. What professional relationship do you desire with your building colleagues?
12. What leadership skills do you feel you would bring to the district and (high school)?
Be prepared to ask your interview team questions as well. I got a lot of great info and feedback from the questions I asked that were quite helpful to me. I asked about how they use teams, common assessments, and some building/district specific questions.
Hope this helps! Good luck!!
